Pc won't boot .. Power supply issue ?

I have a gaming rig with an MPower mobo , ivy bridge i5 proc and a corsair 600 w ps and an h220 aio cooler . The system has run flawlessly for like 5 months . Last night it seized up in a game . After trying everything I could think of (and failing ) I ended up shutting it down from the ps shut off switch . When I tried to reboot it will start to turn on for roughly 2 seconds , make a little sound , quit , 2 seconds down , try to start , rinse and replete , you get the picture . Does this sound like a power supply issue ??? Any and all thoughts very much appreciated

EDIT:

Turns out I'm an idiot . First off I have an HX 750 not a 600 and after hitting the reset on the mobo it fired right up . Not sure why it froze up in the first place but ill call this a partial victory :noobsign:

EDIT 2:

Spoke too soon .. Doing it again . Back to any thoughts

Yes to the surge protection SPS . To Tom : I got it to run for a few minutes this morning but didn't have the wits about me to jot down the code but I believe it was 47 . When I reset now it just starts for a second at a time cycling on and off . With the side panel off now I've determined it's the optical drive making the sound .

As in everything but the mobo power or do you mean from the surge protector ?? Also a friend tells me he had the same thing happen when a stick of memory went bad . Possible ?? Sorry for the noobiness

EDIT:
I just got it to run for 20 seconds at a time .. The mobo led code is 55

Any updates? Try one stick of ram. Was the CPU getting enough cooling? Was the game a taxing one or one that would heat up the cpu, etc? Does the video card fan start to spin up each time you try to boot the rig?

Edit: Is it starting up because it's cooled down? Have you tried blowing cold air on the CPU with a hairdryer on cold and see if it lasts longer than 20 seconds?

It looks like that code is to do with RAM. How many RAM sticks do you have?

Take all your memory out and try booting each time for one stick.

Yah I just read that it's " early memory initialialization . I was in the process of trying exactly what your recommending when my stupid man hands snapped the sleeve on me Mushkin memory stick . I have two 4 gig sticks . As luck would have it I have an unopened box of Ballistix ( 8GB ) nothing great but betted than dead wish me luck !!

I had this problem once, where after turning off my computer, it would start up for a split-second and then stop. It would take hours after that for it to turn on again. Eventually solved it by getting a new PSU of same wattage.

After each stick is tested and problem persists then a PSU is the problem. Unlikely but it's the exact same thing that happened to my pc.

I replaced the memory with the back up and it booted up successfully !!!! Thank you to everyone that contributed to this post . Amazing response , suggestions and insight . Nice to know when it hits the fan that you have this community available to help . Thanx all !
