PC temperature sensor and case project

Project is to build a case from scratch and to also make a temperature management system for it. Been going on for a while now but only just joined the forum.
I'll post a couple of the first design pics so you get the idea but there are so many.
Probably best if the story is in pictures.
At first it was going to be a 3 tier case with the top part removable if radiators weren't being installed, but that would have made it massive.

So, onto the painting now. Want a bright white colour to match the acrylic bits and bobs .
The question is what is the best way of painting MDF, spray painting is the obvious choice but is there another way?
 
MDF is really versatile so you could paint it with anything tbh. I used plasticote the last time i painted mdf and it had i really nice plastic feeling finish to it. I would go over it in clearcoat if you want it to match the acrylic.
 
Had some paint lying around the house so thought I'd try that before buying a load more.

Thought I'd make the LCD display obscure Rocky film quotes (one in pic is the robot from rocky 3 or 4, (they're all the same anyway)

Prototype cover for LCD etc..., LEDs will light up depending on temperature, final one will be the same white and orange as the rest of the bits, very fiddly to stick together though :P

Not really sure, haven't got money for parts and don't need to upgrade really. For the exhibition bit at school I'll probably use whatever junk the IT dept. has lying around, then after that move my current stuff into it.
 
*Does anyone know where the cable braid guide has gone on the forums? Can't seem to find it any more.
*Also, having a problem with the fan controller, potentiometer controls fan, but only for about 3/4 turn until fan stops (goes from 11.8V to 2.5V the 2v lasts for the last 1/4 turn).
Would using a lower resistance potentiometer solve this and give a full rotation's worth of control?
*Actually researched how to prep MDF, have PVA+Water'd it and primer'll be going on Friday.
All slowly coming together :)

Primer and layout of front


How does, this sound, getting main colour from rollered on white emulsion and then spraying on the top layer to give a better looking texture. Would mixing the paints do anything bad? (One is water based, other is oil based)

Also, is there a way to get the retention washer thing back onto the fans so it doesn't harm the fan, both mine now make a bit of a clicking sound when on
 
right with leds all you need to do is work out the voltage you need get a voltage regulator, simular to a transistor, most are limited to set amperages and with your potentiometer just put a resistor in before it only a small once and this will allow you to use the pot to its fullest :)
why did ya not make a lil matrix for ya temp display :) im doing that for a motor project

and when it comes to fiber boards just pva first and do what ever you like to them when they are sealed
 
Painted and assembled, more stuff will be added later to improve the look. Might take pics with a better camera too, VGA doesn't do it justice
