PC not booting!! PSU??

Hey guys

I run into some problems powering up my PC after adding a radiator and merely 4 fans. Not sure if it's my PSU or something else. I am using a Coolermaster V1200 with the specs shown below in the screenshot attached (I used the wattage calculator in the sticky thread. Hopefully that make it easier to see what I am running in the rig).

All the fans are connected through molex directly to the PSU. The weird thing is that I can turn it on if I unplug all or some of the fans. Obviously if I plug the fans in after turning on the rig everything is working fine. If I connect everything and try power it on the light will blink once and nothing happens as if there is not enough juice to power them up. I also tried splitting the fans into 2 or 3 different power cords connecting different sockets on the PSU with no luck. Please shed me some light on what's happening, thanks...

Might be a short.

Try one fan at a time.

Ill be AMAZED if 4 fans stops that PSU from working.

You say radiator - Im assuming youve not mounted or done anything to the CPU?

So I just tried power off the system and back on without changing anything and it's working fine this time. Then I tried power it off for 10 minutes and back on and it still worked fine. But this morning when I tried turning it on after being shut off for 8 hours or so it won't do anything unless I disconnect some fans. So that's pretty weird since 1200w PSU should handle all these fine not to mention that fans don't need a lot of power not like adding another GPU right? I know little about PSUs but it seems that it needs to be "warm up" to do some heavy lifting? Is "cold start" even a thing??

Anyway back to the fans, I've got 8 EK Vardar 120 F4s, 10 Corsair sp120 led fans and 3 Phanteks 140mm case fans. A Y-cable is used to connect all corsair fans and then a 12v to 7v adapter on the molex. 3 Phanteks on another Y-cable to another 9v adapter on molex. Every 4 EK fans use one splitter and a molex to supply power. So in short 4 molex connectors in total in 2 different power cords directly from the PSUs with nothing else sharing power. (I even try splitting them in 3 separate cables with no luck)

I want to emphasize that I can replicate the "cold start"-not-working situation since it happen a few times already. (Forgive me for not using a proper terminology for that cause I really don't know). I just don't know how long it takes to enter that "mode". I might try to find out how many fans I can get it to boot with but it might take me some time.

Also nothing is changed to the cpu. Just re-rounding tubings for the added rad.

Any clues on what might be the issue here with all these information so far? Sorry for the essay, thanks...

That sounds like cold boot to me.

It might not be the fans, it might be the TIME it takes to remove the fans.

Keep an eye on it -

Next time you power off for a few days, remove the fans then. That when when you power on a few days later if it starts straight up you know its the fans. If it doesnt then you know its a cold boot issue.

I will test and see if that's a cold boot issue but it's not likely cause I just recall that the system was off for a few days while I was cleaning up blocks and rads and changing tubings and when I finally put everything all together and powered on for the first time it worked fine. And then I powered it off and tried turning it on again it won't boot. The only change was plugging in the pwm signal cable in the cpu fan header for the EK fans which I forgot before. I can't figure out why this might be the cause though. And if the fans are the cause, how exactly? They are all working fine. Too much load on a rail for the PSU??

Just tried powering it on after being shut off for a day(20+ hours) with the fans disconnected and it booted fine. So it is not likely a cold boot issue. I will test later doing the same thing but with the fans connected and see what happen. If it doesn't boot then it's most likely the fans that's causing the problem. But if it still boot fine then I really don't know exactly what was the cause. Will report back, thanks...
