I just build a PC for my mate

2GB DDR

Gigabyte S Series Mobo

320GB SATA HD

SATA DVD RW

400W PSU

Pentium D unknown model lol

We got a 22 inch monitor and when we plug it in when u move windows on your desktop and move the page on we pages its very laggy, is that the onboard graphics not handling that res? We are getting a xfx 8600 GTS tomoz will this fix the laggy, it isnt slow well that is but everything else is uber fast and will a 8600 gts be good for playing on cs source on that 22 inch widescreen and just browsing and stuff??

which one 8600 gt or gts??

Regards

The lagginess is probably down to the onboard graphic chip on having any drivers and running off of the Microsoft ones. Easily fixed with the installation of drivers or a new GPU.

An 8600 should plough through CSS as the source engine is getting rather dated now. :)

New card is always a good suggestion compared to onboard.

But yeah, drivers may well help. Big screen for an onboard that might be limited to memory sharing. - could try increasing that in the bios if possible. If the aperture is able to be set, be sure it`s 128m+.

I wouldnt say so, the 3870 and 9600gt are very well matched, when you pile up the Anti-Aliasing, the 9600gt takes the lead, but in everyday useage you wouldent notice.

Just an update,

The sound drivers just went, when trying to re-install it and then reboot it asks you again, got the motherboard replaced still didn't work then tried a system restore and it worked... could be the mobo? or what is the software?

Make sure you uninstall any on-board graphics drivers first.

Then download the latest 9 series drivers from Nvidia for your operating system, rather than using what came on the disc with your card.

See if that helps. :)

we replaced the mobo and then did a system restore and it worked fine, also if you install a dedicated graphics card then the onboard gets shut off if im correct
