Parents!

Meh, my comp sounds like a vacuum with heatsink on 100% and I keep it that way 24/7 in the summer, my parents cared at first, but they stopped, and I have it on all the time, so they don't know when I'm up or not. Took forever too sleep with that in my ear, but i got used to it :)

As a parent, I dont care, but then my kiddie is too young to have a computer, let alone leaving it on all night..

Saying that, my wife complains that mines on all the time :)

Yes our kids are to young to know also, but they will just follow in pv's footsteps.

I'm with your wife, but pv always says "I'm folding and it's for a good cause".

So I don't say anything anymore.

I honestly doubt that any of these research projects really do anything. I just do it for points, mainly.

Actually I don't think that's true at all. The University of Stanford have already turned out some impressive research from folding

When my parents say soemthing im like, every single one of you guys in this hous eleave your computer on sometime or another. REally, they dont care as long as my monitors are off.

Then why would a prestige university like Stanford waste their resources doing it? That would be an extremely pointless exercise! I'm sure google, Apple, Intel and Dell see the value in it, considering that they help keep the project running. Check out the published results so far. I can understand your statement perhaps in the context of SETI (not that I'm one to bag other projects), but I mean c'mon let's look for ewoks, chewbakka's and jawa's...SETI - the posterchild of a pointless pursuits imho. But whatever floats your boat I guess.

I think what he means is that most people think this is going to like find a cure for cancer, when its certainly not. So to their eyes, its a fraud.

Why will it not?

If you go around saying things can't be done you will be wrong. It was said humans would die if they went faster than the speed of sound....

I leave my laptop on all the time and they used to get annoyed at me, but I tell them that it is doing folding, and they aren't that against it anyway.

i expect it does some good, but in my personal opinion, you would do a lot better to turn your pc off at night, and give the money you save on the electricity bill to charity.

Nobody messes with my PC or they will get a .45mm slug through their head :) Thanx to my friend Shane. Im not gonna leave it on anymore casue i changed cases today and this one has Blue LED fans in it lol.
