It's not about what's right and wrong, it's about a parent's choice to allow certain things or not. I go to my mate's house sometimes, and his 8yr old kid isn't restricted in what he can play. He has all the latest titles, regardless of ratings. While this makes me cringe, it isn't my place to say it's wrong. But it is my place to say what my kids are allowed to do and adult themed games are not allowed within their games collection. If my kids stopped at my mates house, I would inform my mate that my kids weren't allowed to play these games and expect him to respect my wishes. I don't have to justify this and it is the way my children will be brought up, right or wrong. Same goes for parents who choose to do otherwise.
Whether or not the survey was any good, it does highlight the fact that some parents do consider gaming to be worth worrying about. I am glad that parents do worry about the effects of gaming (if any) because it shows they are taking their responsibilities seriously. On the flip side, imagine if every parent showed no interest in what their kids were playing, watching or reading?
I think that alot of the problems with today's youth is the fact that kids grow up too quickly nowadays and they lose their innocence much too quickly. Part of the reason for this could be attributed to pc games, as it could TV, movies and many other reasons. We have 10year old kids who are every bit as street savvy as 16 year olds, and have the same worries too.
