Packing a cpu and motherboard for resale

Ok this is a bit of a weird one, as ttl would say...

So I've just upgraded my mobo and cpu, so I now want to sell my old ones.

Problem is I don't have any of the original packaging. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could pack them, in particular the cpu. It's an AMD cpu, so it seems to have lots of delicate little pins on the underside.

Has anyone had to do this?

You need some antistatic packaging. I always keep the boxes etc for resale and shiping.

Contact your hardware suplier and im sure they can send you the needed packaging for MB and cpu. They might charge u a small amount of monney to do this.

Or ask friends if they got any packaging stored away for you to have. You could try sell it local without any shiping.

When I sold my cpu I just used a little jewelery box that had soft foam in it, as for the motherboard as long as you have it in an antistatic bag it doesn't really matter what king of box you use you could maybe put some bubble wrap in the box also

It'd be funny to pack it in a pizza box.... with the cpu in one of the dip slots.

Anywho, we're of the opinion that once an antistatic bag is opened from a product, it's not anti-static from that point. Looks good tho.

..... don't get any cheese/tomato/greece on the slots !

What I like best about the jewellery box idea is the potential for comedy misunderstandings. Imagine the geek handing his girlfriend the jewellery box, only for her to open it to find a phenom ii 955 cpu. Hilarity ensues.

Can't go wrong with lots and lots of bubblewrap in my opinion.

Yeh, when I sent a graphics card to a buddy, I didn't have the original packaging so I used an excessive amount of bubble wrap and it got to my mate just fine
