Hey ladies and gents,

My Gigabyte P67-UD4-B3 is no longer holding my 2600K at 5ghz stable with 1.4v. No matter how many more volts i chug into the cpu it just fails, i tested it in my friends UD4-B3 and it held stable for 48 hrs with 1.410v so I can safely say its not the cpu.

I want to try another brand besides Gigabyte, downside is I only have $225USD for a mother motherboard that WILL get my 2600K to 5ghz. I haven't used another brand of motherboard since 2005 so I have no clue to what the current brands can do, reviews aren't that helpful since most Z77 boards are tested with a 3770K and the Z68 or P67 boards are hard to find new

I would recommend you to go z77, even if that means there are some features that you cannot use. Those still get bios updates and such sometimes and they're pretty easy to find.

Seeing as you are an overclocker, I would recommend the MSI z77 MPower motherboard to you. It costs $180,- on Newegg so it's well within your budget, it's also geared towards overclocking so if there's any board that gets your chip that far, it's the MPower.

MSI had a very solid range in the z77 series. The people here at OC3D seemed to be big fans of it, and we had all the reason to.

Off-topic: I wouldn't recommend running an Intel CPU above 1.3 Volts as it can drastically shorten the lifespan of your chip. Probably won't mean much to you though. :)
