P5N32-E SLI - How do i downgrade bios from 1404 to 1203?

i recently updated from 1205 to 1404 but cant get down to 1203 which i heard is the most compatible for this board and q6600 processor.

how can i downgrade?

please help!

thanks!

afaik, i think you have to use dos and awdflash with the /f switch to force a flash

eg. awdflash /f 1203.bin

awdflash should be available from the asus website

i've still got one of these boards (just a spare now running an E6750) and bios 1404 has been one of the best ones for me *shrug*

Remember, the E6750 isn't a Quad. ;)

LOL, it isn't??? :o well i never.... :p

yes, i know ;) i have a q6700 that used to run in it too

i only realised he was using a quad just after posting...

these boards are very touchy (read: junk) when it comes to quads

one or two (lucky) people have had fairly decent results, but most crap out at around 300-333fsb

if keeping the board, might be worth looking into the GTL Ref mod to get higher fsbs with a quad

you handy with a soldering iron or know anyone who is?

You can use EZ-Flash, which is on the bios itself.

This will allow you to install any bios you want, should be in the tools section of your bios. :)

thanks alot all for all the info...one thing, i am in desperate need for bios version 1205, which was the original one that came with the board.

can someone please find thi bios , i cant even find it googling.

once again i got p5n32-e sli and need bios version 1205 which i actually had the nost stability with.

thanks again!

Yeah, thats how I usually flash the bios, but I don't think it works to downgrade, at least with the recent bios's for this board... thats why people had to flash in dos

hey thanks so much!

before you posted this link I had found a "modded" 1205 bios and I wanted to know what exactly was a modded bios.

hope you know.

Afraid I haven't a clue what was modded in the 1205 you found. *shrug* :(

I've not heard of anyone modding these bios's for a while. I remember Tony from OCZ modded one last year sometime to try to increase compatibility with 4x1gb sticks (I remember a 1201bt.bin)

I could be wrong, but I *think* all he did to make sure they were booting with 2T and increased the NB voltage to 1.4v.

[edit] Found Tony's 1201 bios lol

Thanks,

i installed that "modded" bios I found...i think they modded some windows activation crap on it, but other than that , its performing like it did originally.

I was able to go into bios and tweak the overclocking from auto to a"AI OVERCLOCK" and set it to 15% and that got me to 2.76ghz.

And stable.

If anyone knows how to safely get this to 2.85-3.0 ghz please let me know.

thanks!

I got this board with q9450, BIOS 1404 and FSB never get over 1430MHz with what ever volt you put through. Some how I hate this board, I lose my patient now...hmmm

i once had a P5n32-e SLI and hated it! with my q6600 i couldnt get it past 2.9 with out a lock up!!

did some research, most people out their cnt over clock the q6600 along with that board lol
