Overclocking

Ok peeps, this is a complete no-brainer for all you techno heads in here.

I've just found this forum and have found loads of stuff that is making me twitch, can anyone give me the run down on overclocking please. Not too in depth to start with, break me in gently if you know what i'm saying !

Too broad a question to give a helpful answer. Bit like asking about engine tuning for cars. The difference in answers between a pro Formula 1 mechanic's answer and a 17 year old boy racer's would be huge. It depends what you've got and where you want to go with it. Suggest you start by reading some of the extremely helpful stickies already on the forum then post back if you have specific questions.

Hi guys, I guess the question was a little broad, my understanding of overclocking would be increasing my systems performance, would that be right ?

This is what i've got: Intel P4HT 3Ghz, 1G DDr SDram, 512K L2 Cache, Nvida 128 FX5600, 200gb HD.

Any advice greatly appreciated

what kind of motherboard do you have mate, and what kind of cooling do you have on that cpu, stock HSF wont get you very far im afraid
