Overclocking Maximus IV Extreme-Z

The performance it offers is a better deal than the D14.

7 degrees at insane volts for how much more?

sandy birgde max he'll run 24/7 will be 1.38 and i bet the difference between an nh-d14 and h100 with that build would be minimal

im pretty sure theres some testing done on SB ill look around and link you some

Another question, I got the BSOD a couple times, and once after, my SSD didn't show up in my lists of boot drives (I didn't change any settings as of yet as per overclocking) Finally got it to boot to it, any idea what the problem was?

Also, I can't seem to get my DDR3 2133mhz ram up to its supposed *speed* without boot issues, how can I go about doing that?

Is your SSD plugged into a SATA 6gb port? Have you tried jumping your mobo?

As for the RAM, have you tried the memOK on the mobo, AND did you make sure you applied the correct voltages to the RAM after you changed the speed?

Ok, I dealt with the SSD issue, all is well, haven't done anything with the ram as of yet, but my PC seems a little sluggish, it seems my last rig ran faster... But there is no way in hell that should happen.

I don't fully grasp ALL of the terms and shit in the extreme-z bios or AI suite II If someone could give my a runthrough on what I would need to do to make my RAM stop running at 1600 and go to 2133 and to also boost my CPU to 4.00 ghz please explain to me as if I'm retarded. (When it comes to adjusting voltages and all these settings I may as well be)

As listed before, its an i7 2600k running on the maximus IV extreme-z with gskill ripjaws-x 2133 ram ---- All I've got is stock CPU cooler and the 2x 200mm fans and a 230mm in front, also got my MSI GTX 580 lightning xtreme edition cards SLI'd so if the insides of my HAF-X are gonna cook, let me know that too, THANKS!

Even setting my RAM to the ONLY XMP profile it has ( standard settings ) will make my PC not boot up, I have used correct voltage, standard timings and everything, it seems to not want to have anything to do with it. I wouldn't mind even overclocking it a bit, I just want it to perform AT LEAST at the rate for what I paid for. I want that slight performance boost, cause I will be gaming the shit out of this rig.

You have the same problem as me. I got the same cpu mobo and ram as yours and i cann t set the ram to run at 2133 even xmp mode either. I thought it was my mobo issue but now from your thread I am sure it is not mobo issue but the ram is not compatible with maximus iv extreme z. Do you figure out how to set it run at 2133? By the way I can set it run at 1866 with no problem so far.

XMP will automatically set to 11 11 11 30 2 with 1.5v.

I also tried to set manually to 1.55v and it didn t post either.

The problem is not with your voltage, especially if you haven't overclocked anything yet. Private message me and I'll talk you through it, I've become pretty proficient in this area since the last time I posted in this forum.
