Overclocking In General

Hey guys, My pc is finally all ready and now I'm ready to overclock
biggrin.gif
however since this is my first ever build I'm not really sure what I should be aiming for. Here are the specs and then I'll ask the questions.

CPU: I7-950

CPU Cooling: Watercooled with a 360 radiator (Thermaltake TA)

Ram: Mushkin 6GB 3x2 DDR3 PC3-12800 6-8-6-24 Ridgeback

GPU: MSI GTX 580 - the first reference one (just on air cooling at the moment)

Firstly In which order should I do the overclocks? should it be CPU then RAM then GPU ?

So, what sort of overclocks should I be aiming for on my CPU ? I was planning originally just 4GHz but could I manage more due to the watercooling?

Ram wise I am going for 2MHz 8-9-8-24 with 1.65 volts.

Finally GPU wise, I know they vary quite a lot but what should I start off with?

All advice welcome, thanks

You will feel more benefit from overclocking the CPU more than anything else - RAM overlocks dont have a massive impact on performance and your GPU is a beast without overclocks (same as your cpu really).

Id overclock the CPU first, then the GPU then tweak the RAM accordingly if atall as the benefit isnt anything noticeable from day to day use

Just go step by step and see where you finish, I wanted 4.25 out of my CPU and ended up just under 4.7 after a lot of trail and error.
