Hello there,

New to the site, looks pretty impressive. I have a question about overclocking an older computer that I was hoping some one could help with. Its my dads, I’ve just upgraded the memory and wanted to see if I can squeeze a bit more from the cpu. The spec from belarc advisor is as follows.

ACER Aspire E500 on windows xp

Motherboard

Board: ACER ERC410Mÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ

Bus Clock: 133 megahertz

BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. R01-F4 12/20/2005

CPU

3.05 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4

16 kilobyte primary memory cache

1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache

64-bit ready

Not hyper-threaded

I’ve not had any problems overclocking my computer but can’t find the options in the bios to overclock this one. Is there any way of unlocking these or is it a lost cause?

OEM PC's like that generally dont have the options there at all fella. There are the chances of finding a bios that will work on the board and flashing it but tbh. If its not there its probably not worth bothering with.

Need to remember OC'ing = more heat too so youd be needing to upgrade the cooling aswell.
