Overclocking 6600

Anyone had any experience overclocking the plain vanilla 6600?

I need a new vga card that stays nice and cool at stock speed for regular use, but which will improve on my 9600 pro when oc'd.

I was looking at the Gigabyte Silentpipe 256, and I see Gigabyte claim their version is faster. Any truth in that?

My understanding of the Silentpipe cards is that they work fine with good airflow, which I should be able to arrange.

I run a quiet computer, so active card cooling is not an option.

I also read that the standard thermal goop is effectively useless, and that reassembly with arctic silver is recommended so that should help.

I'll have a look at the overclocking thread, looks useful.

Standard thermal pads/paste are complete junk. It's mandatory to reapply something high quality such as AS5 if you want to maximize performance.

Sounds like you have the uber quiet rig coming along nicely, XMS should take some notes ;) hehe

Its so funny the other day XMS dropped his Mike and I thought a lorry had driven past. It was his damn rig  :rollinla
