Nope. That is the thing with Gibbo, he is very crafty and knows how to manipulate words. That is probably why he owns a Porsche. Let me explain it for you.

Retail CPUs are not binned. Not at all. Why? because if OCUK open the item it is no longer new, and then against EU law to sell as new. Meaning they take a massive hit, just to open an easter egg.

Binned CPUs are OEM tray CPUs. TBH? they should not be selling those either, as the law states that OEM PC products must be a part of a computer. BITD? we used to sell them at our shop, but, we had the stipulation that they must buy a storage device with it to make it more legal. So that was a floppy drive. We sold loads, they probably all went in the bin. But that was our way of bending the rules.

So basically tray CPUs should be going into pre built PCs and nothing else. But they are not. That website that bins? they take brand new retail CPUs, open them, bin them and then put them in a price bracket.

However, Gibbo is not saying that a pre binned 8 pack CPU is less than £400. He is saying the retail ones are, and that means total lottery and your risk.

8 Pack does some good parts when binned.

He does a 7980XE binned to 4.6ghz which is already impressive for a CPU with that many cores, in practice the same CPU will actually get up to 4.8 or 4.9ghz.

I mean, that Intel probably bins them. Only the best 8700s become 8086 to insure 5GHz. And therefore the idea of getting an 8pack version doesn't make that much sense. As you pay extra on an already Intel binned CPU.

IDK if Intel were binning tbh. Maybe? I mean, they have to at least guarantee the base clocks I suppose.

However, when they start "chasing product" like AMD used to with their Centurions? then yeah, things will probably change in retail. You may find that products similar suck.

Well the other benefit is the delid it but use a better thermal paste rather than the stock tim. So you should get lower temps as well

Intel won't bin the chips but they can tell you , to within a minute margin of error which part of the silicon wafer will produce the highest speeds.

Also, ALX, it may surprise you to hear but since Gibbo doesn't own OcUK, the profits don't go straight into his car fund...
Gibbo owns a (Jaguar) because he's 39 years old and his passion is cars. Where many people who frequent this site may spend a lot of thier cash on PC parts and other sections of the community spend it on nights out drinking, Gibbo has always spent his money on cars. He doesn't even own a gaming PC.

You wouldn't besmirch TTL for owning a Mustang! Which, btw, was one of the two cars which Gibbo has owned between the Porsche and the Jaguar (just to show how out of touch you are)

All the binned CPUs OcUk sell have been part of a PC, they are just selling them on secondhand.
