As many of you will have noticed, at around 6pm UK time, Overclock3D websites and forums took a nosedive. This was around the same time that our OCZ nia review made it to the front page of slashdot.org which subsequently resulted in OC3D receiving 7x more traffic than normal.

For some reason this caused the web server to crash (possible overclock wasn't 100% stable), and on rebooting the server was freezing on the BIOS screen.

At around 8:30pm I left home to go visit the server up in London, and at around 11:30pm, normal service was restored. I still need to investigate the reason behind the BIOS freezing as this will probably hinder any future server reboots we perform.

Also due to the crash, a couple of our databases had suffered severe corruption (luckily not the website or forums), so these will need to be repaired today.

As in the other thread... Nicely done Jim.

I'm sure I can speak for us all when I say the work put into the site by all is very much appreciated!

Pretty balls time for it to go down but well done on sorting it man, i'll paypal you some money for a coffee now ;)

I must say I was a bit lost while OC3D was down and had to make do with OcUK.

As I have already mentioned in the other topic well done Jim at getting the server back online at such an awkward time.

Just did a Google search for the new Hiper Osiris case and Overclock3D.Net was the first result.

Gotta love it :worship:

Jim: I don`t know if it`s just me - seeing as I`m logging in from a pc that doesn`t hold my cookie/pass. But each time I log-in and perhaps reply or write a message, the date order of stuff (for example NewPosts) is all screwy.

To get something close to a NewPosts listing, I need to do QuickLinks->Todays. Even if I do the Clear thingy above.

I thought cookies, but if I login from work and home, the NewPosts would keep up with each other.

Strangio.
