Hello guys

i've been running my pc in idle clock for about 1 year/ 3 months and its been running with troubles in FPS for some games.

my PC config is:

CPU i7 950 Bloomfield

MOBO - Asus Ramapge 3 Gene

RAM Dominator GT 2000 Mhz corsair

Cooler CPU H50 method push/pull - Idle temp aroudn 39 - 43 (My weather region is hot hot hot)

SSD Intel SATA II AHCI 80 GB x-25 M

HDD SATA II WD 1 TB caviar Black

PS - HX850W corsair

GPU - GTX 480 EVGA SC

Please help me to overclock my CPU for only to use the 2000 MHZ of my Ram where I only use 1600 MHZ at moment.

I want to follow this method. Should be workable?

Overclocking To 3801MHz (3.8GHz) @ 1.2v.

Remember how we worked out our processor speed? Using that same calculation, we will need to be going for a BCLK of 181. So, 181 x 21 = 3801MHz. Easy!

The drill is the same as before, back to the BIOS and we need to set the BCLK to 181 first. We will also need to increase the Vcore (CPU Voltage) to match our overclock, so let's go for 1.2v to begin with.

Ai Overclock Tuner - Manual (May I use turbo?)

CPU Ratio Setting - Auto (If you are NOT using a 920, please set this manually to 21) Here I should use 21 or 23? I ask because 950 normally use 23 x 133

Intel (R) SpeedStep (TM) Tech - Enabled

Intel (R) Turbo Mode Tech - Enabled

BCLK Frequency - 181

PCIE Fequency - 100

DRAM Frequency - DDR3 - 1451MHz - If you use memory that is slower than 1600MHz, you can use the next lowest setting here, however, if you use faster memory, such as 1866MHz or even 2000MHz, please stick with this setting for now. May I use 2000 MHZ? because this is the value max of my RAM.

DRAM CAS# Latency - 8 DRAM Clock (same)

DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay - 8 DRAM Clock (my Ram is 9 here)

DRAM RAS# PRE Time - 8 DRAM Clock (same)

DRAM RAS# ACT Time - 24 DRAM Clock (same)

my dominator GT is 8-9-8-24 1,65

CPU Voltage 1.20000v (This Vcore is fine? May I use auto?)

CPU PLL Voltage - Auto

QPI/DRAM Voltage - Auto

IOH Voltage - Auto

IOH PCIE Voltage - Auto

ICH Voltage - Auto

ICH Voltage - Auto

DRAM Bus Voltage - 1.66v (Is fine if I use 1.64 or let this in auto?) By the way, my RAM inform 1,65!

DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHA - Auto

DRAM CTRL REF Voltage on CHA - Auto

DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHB - Auto

DRAM CTRL REF Voltage on CHB - Auto

DRAM DATA REF Voltage on CHC - Auto

DRAM CTRL REF Voltage on CHC - Auto

Load-Line Calibration - Enabled

CPU Differential Amplitude - Auto

CPU Clock Skew - Auto

CPU Spread Spectrum - Auto

IOH Clock Skew - Auto

PCIE Spread Spectrum - Auto

Once you have set everything as per the settings above, save and exit the BIOS and boot to windows. In the same way as last time, if the computer fails to load windows, it's likely that you need a touch more Vcore, so go back, add that and then try again.

Now we have Windows loaded again, it's just a case of repeating what we did earlier with Prime95. Load it up, along with CPU-Z and CoreTemp and set Prime95 running for around an hour again.

I did the overclock last friday and I got 3,68 GHZ of my i7 950 @ 3,06 GHZ

I used everything in Auto

The Rams stayed at 1,64 voltage

The temperature stayed idle around 48 to 51 Celsius Degrees and 65 Celsius Degrees in Game

During Prime95 the Temperature arrived around 80 - 85 Celsius Degrees.

I think that is nice results against the temperature in my region be around 30 Celsius Degrees.

Also, I cleaned my GPU where I add AS5 paste.

The temperature o my GPU now reach max only 68 degrees in games with 100% fan use. and 55 degrees in Idle use. This is another nice results because the temperature in games reached around 90 Degrees with 100% of the Fan
