Thoughts? It's a 580 because I'm going to be using Premiere, After effects, and Photoshop which use Mercury Engine which benefits a lot more from a 580 than a 600 series card. Also has to be a single gpu. I want to dualboot Hackintosh this rig also so that means a 600 series card is out too.

Doing a lot of video rendering and graphics work so better performance in games isn't very important, although this rig is going to destroy CS:S and CS:GO which are the only games I play.

I'm pretty excited. I don't know whether to wait for the white trooper to come out, but it's an extra week wait time..

32gigs is a bit of overkill dont you think? unless your goign to boot from RAM disc, but that renders the ssd useless.

Does hackintosh have a x79 version yet i didnt think it did

Just no speed stepping -- but I'll be leaving that off anyways.

Lots of video work and in photoshop im dealing with 16 bit 700+ mb files

Isn't more RAM beneficial for the programmes he's going to be using though?

Yeah

Just went to the bank and remembered I've my girlfriends birthday coming up so I need to save a bit of money for that present (:/) I might just drop the extra 2TB HDD, or I may actually drop down the ssd to a 128/120. I don't think I'll actually ever use that much space on it, but meh, I can just not eat for a week instead ;D.

how is the store you are ordering from compare in price to sourcing from stores in Ireland

the reason I am asking is I am planning an upgrade atm with similar items to yourself

Hardwareversand is by far the cheapest supplier for Ireland, there's about 400 quid in the difference between this build on it and on something like komplett, not bashing komplett or anything.

They're really good to deal with and if you're on the phone to them you just have to make sure the first thing you say is "English" because they will just keep talking in German if you don't

. Lots of people over on boards.ie use them regularly and everyone seems to have a great experience with them.

update for Hackintoshs - scroll to the end for the update

Thanks for that, had a little look and it doesn't really seem to effect me except for 600 series cards maybe being supported in the future, but the 580 is still a better card for Adobe products.

Looks like a solid build to me! Make sure to post a project log and keep us up to date

I definitely will! and I'll include my little G5 mod I'm doing too down the line

.

I ordered my ssd from dabs.ie last night, and got a 128gb instead because it was only 100 euro (That's about 80 pounds!) and in a few minutes I'm going to order my monitor and H100 through komplett.ie because they're not in stock on hardwareversand. Then it's time to order the rest

I'm just nitpicking here, but are you sure you want bright red RAM heatsinks in a black/brown build?? for aesthetics of course

Damn it you're right. I honestly completely forgot about colours. I wonder if Mushkin have anything that would look good with this

Unfortunately i won't be able to buy all my kit in one go as i am currently out of work, i will only be able to get one at a time

i compared some prices with komplett, as komplett has free shipping, if you add the €18 shipping from Hardwareversand some of the prices are similar

but komplett don't have all my items so i will probably use both stores

instead of hijacking your thread i will post the details of my proposed build in a new thread
