Ongoing Upgrade Project

Well, It's been a few years since I've upgraded my computer since it's monster build back in 2008, and that was built at all at one time. (Don't you just love it when all the boxes are everywhere)

So it's mid 2011, and I feel the time is to start upgrading, but not in one big go.. Over a period of a few months. Hopefully with the help of this forum, I will have a high spec i5/i7 System.

So I've just started the project off by just ordering a brand new CoolerMaster HAF-X.

My current spec is:

Intel Q9450

Corsair DHX1333 4GB DDR3

Striker 2 Extreme

2x nVidia 285s

1200watt Thermaltake ToughPower Series PSU

My structure as follows:

New Case (Ordered HAF-X)

New Cooler (Strong possibility NH-D14)

New RAM (Maybe G.Skill RipJaw Mushkin, Atleast 8GB)

New Motherboard

New CPU

I'll update this thread with progression notes as well as pictures

It's a very impressive case and certainly alot better then my ThermalTacky Mozart TX!

The next part I shall be getting is the Motherboard. This will be most likely the Asus's new Z68 V-Pro Motherboard, I have spotted this online for £115 delivered, Once that arrives, I'll take a few pics etc. Then after that It's the RAM, and CPU Cooler with only processor left to be bought, Then will be the time to actually commence the build

would it not be better to upgrade mobo-cpu-ram last cuz you know they wont work without eachother and you can wait for price drops

Can you PM me the site you found the V-Pro for £115 please.

I will have to get me one in a few weeks when I can get the money together if they are going that cheap.

EDIT: never mind found it

I was looking forward to getting one for cheep in a few of weeks.

Ah Well, Will teach me for waiting!

Anyhow.. I was going with the G.Skill RipJaws but with a lot of praise for Mushkin, I'm going for them instead!

Having second thoughts about the Z68, With it being the first generation Z68 board, It might be worth while waiting for a bit! Sabertooth perhaps is back on the list!

It's been a while since I last posted!

I'm still around.. But with one thing and another I've had to put the upgrade on hold for a few weeks..

Perhaps turned into a Winter project
