OMFG I think I shortcutted the MotherBoard :S I think I plugged something (from the PSU) to the motherboard (in a place it's not supposed to be)

It worked fine at first, I got no image to the screen so I changed some things, tried again. The power LED went on and off in a flash I heard the fans going and than they stopped soon after.

HELP ME! Did I just *censor* of my Mother Board or every component in it?

Did you move cables whilst the power was still on and what were those cables exactly?

Was the PSU plugged into the mains and the switch on PSU in the on position.

Thanks, and if someone asks if their mobo is fried from putting a cable from the psu to the CHA-Fan1 spot in the MOBO, tell him that it isn't... (I tried so many things I have no idea what fixed it.)

Ohh and btw, Do you have any idea why I'm not getting any image on my display?

Not sure i understand you.

how have you plugged a cable from the PSU into a fan header??

Post your rig spec up please.

OMFG I think I shortcutted

Could've been worse, you could have sharted !

I know it's not the right word for it, jesus christ, I never found myself needing to say the word for it before...

But my system is in my profile, and thanks for helping me. ( ohh and btw, I think it's ok for you to troll when a thread is waiting to get to the buttom of the archives... )

Did you plug a floppy connector to a fan header on the motherboard? I can't really sort exactly what has happened here.

It looks like now you get no display on the screen. Do fans spin up when you power the rig on?

Well, It works now. And it's that power connector wich is thin and looks like it could fit on a fan header... (the otherones are just way off (btw I didn't read the "FAN"

I just blugged it in, bended the thinfs like f'n hell. And turned it on...) Almost shat my pants I did!

Yah, But I was like wrong hole = More epic... Turned out to be not so epic...

Lol, I'm just kidding, I failed misserably

well you probably killed that fan header but the board should be okay unless it fried other stuff along the way.. And there's me thinking that all the connectors are idiot proof.

I wired up a fan wrong and set fire to the mobo a few years back (yellow and red where wrong way round or shorted) and it still worked apart from the fan header (and a dirty great hole in the MOSFET). This was on a P4 though and the components have moved on since then. I'd go through the routine of re-seating your RAM and all cables, and also try removing every non-essential part in the system and try to get it to boot with a bare minimum of hardware (Mobo/Ram/CPU/HSF/Graphics/PSU)

If you've got access to parts to swap my money would be on either the mobo or PSU having died. All the connectors on a mobo are keyed so that you can't plug stuff in the wrong way around, I must say a floppy power connector into a fan header is a new one for me though!
