600-700$ (ty IRS) to spend on upgrading my meager rig (see specs in sig) looking for suggestions on what exactly to do to boost it some with parts to go into more upgrading later. I'm thinking my best bang for my buck will be a better graphics card seriously considering a GTX560ti after seeing the Guv's review. Also considering maybe better memory or a SSD. Shoot me some thought y'all have I'm game

Some thing along the lines of a 560 or a 570 would be a nice jump in games, and an ssd would also make a nice adition,

Memory the only real worth while change would be something like a 2x4gb 1600mhz kit if you plan on overclocking your cpu in the future as filling all the dimm slot sometimes can affect a high clock.

If you dont plan on overclocking for $710 you could get:

60gb muskin castillo ssd

phenom 2 x6 1090t

gtx 570

Oh and what power suply do you have? you dont have one listed in your sig. if its a cheap/lower end brand one you may want to invest in something like a corsair ax/tx/hx 650w instead of the getting the cpu if your happy with your x4.

If you have a not so great power suply then something like this would be good for $570:

60gb mushkin castillo ssd

650w corsair TX

gtx 570

wouldnt upgrade the CPU id bake it instead imo, wait for AM3+ and upgrade then... SSD you can use in any build so is an investment!

the 570 is a good buy but you could wait for the 6990 to be out and buy that badboy, it may blow your budget however its an investment again!

well looks like I may indeed be looking at a psu upgrade as well lol its always worked so I never checked its reviews lol below is a exert from a review I just found on my RS-600PCAR-E3 from Cooler Master

"Why manufacturers like Cooler Master are still carrying power supplies with fake wattages is a mystery to us. We know that this is a very low-end power supply, but this doesn’t give the manufacturer the right to lie. This unit should be labeled as a 450 W unit and sold for half of its price. Being labeled as a 600 W product and sold for USD 70, it is a complete rip-off. " this is from Hardware Secrets and Authored by Gabriel Torres

as far as my memory reason I suggested it was simply put it is value ram it works well at and around 1666 speeds but I havent been able to push past that. might be mobo's limit it dunno will have to wait on the next upgrade for that piece. As far as the proc goes it will make its way to a backup rig once I get to that point. I havent decided if next one will be Intel or AMD yet so the 1090T is kind of on hold.

most of my rig was obtained at a local pc outlet that doesnt spec in high-end or extreme gear. When I built it ....it was simply to upgrade from my 939 opty and Ti44001gig ddr winXP rig. Wasnt meant to be awesome just work lol. Now I'm getting back into the shite and want better lol.

As far as that SSD is concerned I want bigger lol 60gb wont hold alot so I think min there is 120gig. So far I'm looking at the psu and graphics now. I doubt the 650w will handle crossfire or Sli so I'm betting 850w at least so I have the option to run dual.

damn I cant decide on cards lol I'm looking at one of these 3 gtx560ti gtx570 or a gtx580.

ok think I have it worked out now MSI GTX560Ti Frozer II, Corsair 750HX, and Asus Crosshair 4 Extreme ( guess I decided to stay AMD) I also think the newer 890FX chipset will be alot better overall than my old 785 chipset

ok changed my mind yet again lol (probably will several more times before I get the $$$$)

please check it out and tell me what ya think.

tossed in a case because I'm tired of having to remove 10 screws everytime I open up just one side of the case 20 if I do both sides for hdd work

edit to remove link as I moved it to a wish list for now so I could continue shoppin lol

Seriously I highly recommend you save up some more money like 1k+ then buy a computer.

In terms of graphics get the gtx570 and then get another later when you have the $.

I have a 6970 and the "coil whine" on it moans like an unpaid bit#$!!

SOOO ANNOYING!

not sure why ur recommending the 570 over the superclocked evga 460ti I selected from all the reviews I've seen on base 460ti's they perform as well as or better and the one I selected is 900MHz core vs the 570's 750MHz core

as far as what ya said prior to that its hard for me to get that kind of $$ at once I am a single parent with 2 small girls so this will be a one time splurge 4 me I'll do the rest a piece at a time. I'm looking for best bang for my $$$$ I dont need the biggest and best for now just something better than what I have currently. My cpu shows great promise for oc'n as I have got to 3.8GHz so far but I think my mobo's chipset and cheap ram hold me back. Hell it might even be my cheap arse psu which I thought was good at the time but after reviews I found its shite.

But I do appreciate your input

going to wait until payday to get the video card(s) still havent decided 100% on single Nvidia or single/dual Ati also going to get an SSD someone please give me your opinion on either dual or single 6950 or gtx560ti. If I do xfire it will be one now one later still trying to spread the cost out lol kids need to eat
smile.gif
so pplease post your opinions

well ordered the EVGA GTX 560 Ti today

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130610

should be a major upgrade from my lowly 4670HD lol

all in all I think I've made decent decisions on my upgrade parts considering my budget. New Rig will be as follows

Asus Crosshair IV

2x2Gb Ripjaw DDR3 1600MHz (will be upgrading this later to 8Gb)

EVGA GTX560 Ti SOC

Corsair HX750Watt

4x320Gb Seagate HDD's in Raid 0 (again another to upgrade later to SSD)but made a deal on another forum for 2 HDD's to better match my current 2

Rocketfish 92mm CPU cooler (til I can get an Noctua)

Cooler Master Storm Sniper case (current case is clear acrylic P.O.S. that has no cable management at all)

So as I said I think it'll work good
