Hi,

I'm hoping I can get some advice. This will be my 4th PC build, although my last one was back in 2012 and I don’t understand enough about PCIe lanes. I am concerned I won’t have enough lanes for the system I am considering.

I am building a new PC for video rendering, stock market charting software, MS Excel, YouTube video watching (I tend to have a dozen or more YouTube or other site's video tabs open), and web surfing. I suspect I only need an i7-7700K but am also looking at the i7-7800X as well as the Ryzen 7 1800X and Ryzen 5 1600X. Here is what I’m considering:

• Motherboard, considering these (suggestions appreciated)
• ASUS Maximus IX Hero
• Asus Prime X299-A

• Gigabyte Aorus X299 Gaming 7

• MSI (not sure)

• CPU, considering these (suggestions appreciated):

• i7-7700K
• i7-7800X
• Ryzen 7 1800X
• Ryzen 5 1600X
• 1 EVGA GTX 1060 GPU (new purchase)

• 1 500GB Samsung 960 EVO NVMe boot drive (new purchase) $230

• 6 SATA devices:
• 1 Samsung 840 EVO (250GB (to be used as a scratch drive) (already own)
• 4 HDDs (7200 RPM) (2TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 4TB (already own all these)
• 1 DVD-ROM Burner (already own)
• 32GB DDR4-3000 Memory (new purchase) $330
• Corsair H-115i AIO
• EVGA SuperNova G3 850W power supply
• Corsair 750D Air Flow case
My question is: which, if any, of these CPUs / chipsets have enough PCIe lanes to handle the SSDs, HDDs, and DVD burner I've listed?

Also, I would appreciate any suggestions as to AMD or Ryzen and which Mobo? (I'm considering ASUS Maximus IX Hero, ASUS Prime x299-A, or a Ryzen board (not familiar with them, so please suggest a couple)?

THANKS
