Oh No ! GF4200ti >.<

U know when u can recall great gfxcards u used to have. How well they treated u whilst playing Unreal or whatever - but the time comes when u have to move on, progress and etc..

Well I did, but I didn`t cast it to the dumps, I allowed my 4200ti to be used in some1 elses pc, they used it mostly for web browsing and the odd kids game - nothing demanding at all.

Friday I get to call around cos "the monitor is acting up" - I test the monitor on a laptop and it works ok, to their astonishment.

I look in the case, and my retired card has it`s hsf blown off, hanging by one of the plastic leg-clips

Now this is a sentimental thing, I want to get it going again, if I can. I examine the card and there are no burn marks on the actual card, it`s health *looks* good. The hsf doesn`t, it`s browned off and dusted.

It was (IS IS IS, damn it!) a Creative GF 4200ti 64meg with DVI/VGA/AV-out.

I`ve cleaned off the thermal paste, which is still a slick cream color, and am looking to replace the sink, hopefully fanless.

What are the odds ? (I am aware that u can buy cards extremely cheaply, but I wanna try this)

i'd get a little replacement heatsink like the evercool vc-rf

(cheap as chips and could be used on a mobo chipset if the vga application fails)

should be fine for a geforce 4. I reviewed one once, tested it on a 6600GT and it slightly bettered the stock cooling by a couple of degrees at idle and 9C under load

the thing i most liked about the vc-rf was the finish on the base

Arrrh! I remember my good old Creative Geforce 4800ti.. It is quite rare now, seeing as all the 4800s about are all SE versions mine is the normal one with better spec.

I have given mine to mate and it is running Oblivion well (oldblivion)I am so proud of it!

Eclipse are pretty decent yes

Eclipse have eaten the order I`ve placed for this, plus a number of other items, little things.

Placed it on about 17? 18? Dec.. same time as ordering from Amazon & Scan. The latter 2 received in 2 & 3 days.

No sign of Eclipse..

Emailed Eclipse Sunday 31.12.06 concerning this.. no reply.

Website shows nothing about stock situations, everything is "normally in stock".

Checked the order via the website.. and it`s on there, just no info with it at all, just all the goods listed.

It`s been paid for btw - very quick on getting that.

I can accept a christmas period excuse, but is now 4.1.07, and I`ve not had any progress email, other than the point of placing the order-mail, no reply to the mail I sent the other day.

Shoddy company ? Do I need to send the bois around Pyr0`s ?

when i've used eclipse in the past, they've been pretty good

i've spoken with a couple of people there by email (usually Andrew in sales) and they were always polite and helpful

i'd prolly try sending another email and/or giving them a call

I got 2 of those in pcs in the house, with the tv out, solid cards imo. Not expecting to play slick games with them obviously, but still they work well.

Why not just tell people this ? Saves alot of effing about. Ebuyer did this a few years ago concerning a laptop they couldn`t get anymore.
