OCZ to enter DIY notebook market

Yeah customization.

I mean with all the bits that the `barebones` comes with, there isn`t an awful lot else to mess with. Memory? Harddrive ?

Can u pick ur laptop specs here any better than u could on perhaps a Dell/Acer site ?

Be nice if they actually found a way of hosting a mobo - then u pick everything else.

With the smale scale tho it is hard.

I think we would all love a laptop which we can mod the hell out of.

E.g, Change the CPU and mobo to something new, swap gpu's and ram (i know you can do RAM at the mo but its not the point.)

Personally, until you can do all of this to a laptop as quickly and easily as you can with a desktop pc, im going to stay away from these foldout babys.

It`s pretty astonishing to me that over the decades the size of the pc case required to do ur regularly regarded top-end stuff, still requires both hands and a bending of the knees in order to pick it up.

Power supplies are basically the same size, the ATX is .. well u can get some solid micro ones, but at a loss of something, gfxcards seem to be getting bigger. Memory strips I find appaulling in size, particulary as in alot of situations u can get a regular pc ddr2 and a laptop ddr2 that do the same thing but 1 is about half the size of the other.

PS2 connectors, parallel and serial ports (although they`re going).

Some1 tried with the useless implementation of the pcix1 slot. (I say useless as in there are still 1 or 2 regular pci slots on mobos)

It`s no wonder u can`t buy a mobo (that`s very small) and stick it in a laptop case if u chose to, and power it either atx psu or battery.

Meh.
