OCZ - Overclockers Rant!

Their SSDs are quite flakey from what I hear.

Their memory is by far the most incompatible I have ever used. It's fine when it works, not so fine when it doesn't.

PSUs. OCZ make 0 of their PSUs. You need to do your research to find out who does make them. For example the 550w and 700w Fatal1ty power supplies were made by some crap company, and thus were crap. The 750w one however was made by an American company and was very good.

VERY few OEMs actually make their power supplies. They are mostly just rebranded lesser know manufacturers' units.

The ones to look out for are the rebranded Seasonics. For example Corsair's CX 400 (the old one) was Seasonic. Their new one is cheap tat.

It's very important to read reviews on power supplies before buying. The only safe bet you will ever have with a power supply is Enermax, simply as they DO make all of theirs and they are all incredible.

As for your problem?

Firstly the power supply was not Overclockers' problem. They are only obligated to cover it for 7 days full refund or replacement within 30 days. After that you need to RMA it via OCZ. They have a forum and they're actually very good on RMA. Only bugger is you have to send it to Holland or something which can be a bit expensive. Having said that though Corsair follow the same protocol !

Nigh on every computer part OEM require the same RMA process, so I recommend in future looking over what it entails before buying a product tbh. Gigabyte are in the U.K and go by serial number (which is awesome) and so on and so forth. Patriot are also based in The Netherlands.

Woopsie... I have an OCZ psu and ram in my system

Getting blue screens sometimes, not very much though. Already thought it was the ram

My psu is an 'old' stealthXtreme 600w, almost a year running here

Their older stuff was great though right?

I still have my 600w Gamextreme psu going after about 5 years of use. Overclocked too.

Also have a set of reaperx going strong and some other ram from about 5 years ago still ok

Though my usb stick had to be replaced 3 times until they upgraded me to the higher specced one

That PSU isn't made by them, by FSP Group I believe

I think they used to be OK though, maybe the recession got them cutting corners
