OCZ join forces with PC Power & Cooling

Ack, they bought em? I hope they don't destroy the product that PCP&C has worked so hard to create.

Don't F* this up OCZ!!

My thoughts exactly, I generally think that companies buying other companies is a bad thing for consumers, and the furtherance of technology.

Yeah, the PCP&C name is staying which is a good start. I think (hope) they are just making them available thru the OCZ worldwide channels.

Hopefully this also means if PCP&C shift more units, they'll become a little more affordable.

OCZ and PC Power & Cooling Join Forces to Revolutionize Power Management

Hey Everybody,

first of all let me introduce myself as the OCZ's marketing manger.

I appreciate your comments

Thats a totally legitimate concern anytime there is a acquistion of this type, and I appreicate you bringing it up. We are not making any changes whatsoever to the PC Power & Cooling lineup. Doug from PC Power is also now devoting all his time to bringing out even better next generation units.

This combination allows us to address the complete range of consumers

OCZ PSU's: Mainstream, Gamers, entry-enthusiasts

PC Power: Dell Upgrades, Enthusiasts, Mission Critical, Servers, System Builders

With more resources given to PC Power Doug can really get creative as our new CTO.

The PC Power & Cooling products will also be more widely available through our worldwide network of distributors, e-tailers and retailers.

/Tobias

Hmm, looks like an interesting thing...

On a random side note: I totally didn't realize that that was your name in your username at first. I read it as "OCZ to bias" and was thinking, "WTF?" XD

Allthough I can't say much about it yet there will be some very exciting products coming up. Not only PSU's, its called PC Power & Cooling :p

As you probably already guessed from the news post, I'm quite excited by this partnership. OCZ have always done a good job with their GameXStream units, but with PCP&C behind them I'm hoping we'll see even better.

One thing we won't see tho (unless PCP&C give in to OCZ) is modular units ;)

From PCP&C themselves:

3. DON'T LOSE POWER WITH MODULAR PLUGS

Due to their look, convenience, and cost savings for manufacturers, modular plugs have become a popular power supply feature. Unfortunately, there has been little or no discussion of the impact of this feature on overall performance and reliability. The fact is, modular plugs limit power by adding to electrical resistance. The voltage drop can be as much as would occur in 2 feet of standard wire. Worse yet, modular plugs utilize delicate pins that can easily loosen, corrode, and burn, creating the potential for a major system failure. That's why professional system builders specify uninterrupted wire!
