OC3D Welcomes the Redline Redux Folding Team

amd cards are pants at folding (even if you have got a card from the future!!! LOL)

better off just doing -SMP

9650 is a cpu fella :L

2.3ghz quad core (amd phenom)

My graphics card is a HD5750, i know i'm not going to get massive ppd but i don't really care about that, this pc sits around doing nothing so i might as well have it folding. Is there any point atall in me getting the HD 5750 folding?

the amd gpu's normally take one of the processors with them while folding - reducing your quad to a tri

until the new FAHcores arrive for V7, i would just use the CPU to fold

lmao @myself - i thought you had typo'd 6950

:L Nope, its ancient. Upgrades coming soon, either that or a nice new marin bike.

I can't find myself on the list of team members on the fah website, and also when i go to 'my stats' on FahMon i get just the fah banner load and nothing else. I'm on 490.82 ppd, do i have to wait a certain time before i appear on the list?

@Dugdiamond, Fahcore_16 is already released to the public

it's not fully optimized yet, but it's already being used. the older cores will be phased out later this year though, so you will get a mixture at the moment.

@Reckless, not necessarily (now that's a fun word to spell
wink.gif
) but it does allow you to get -bigadv (due to the 8 'cores' minimum requirement) so it will rake in alot more points.

The difference between Hyperthreading on and off changes per WU/Project, some take alot of advantage of it, others show a very small/or no difference at all.

Also, you will only show up on the FAH website after completing at least 1 WU, which then has to be processed by the Points server. This happens every hour, on the hour.

Thanks.

BTW can i switch of my pc while its folding and not lose my WU?

In my experience, yes you can, however there is always a small risk of the WU just being in a write action.

And the v7 Beta client is a bit more unstable (mmm is that why they call it beta?

) So it's worth pausing that one before shutting down.

On the older v6 clients I haven't lost a WU by shutting down the system (or even getting a BSOD).

Hi all! Joseph here, refugee from the TeamFM team, off-and-on Folder (I'd be full time if my computer didn't mysteriously die or have other random issues as soon as I decide to start Folding).

I have an HD 6950 coming in the mail that I won't be Folding on, a 4.4GHz 2500K that I will almost definitely be Folding on, and if I can get them to run properly together I'll have a GTX275 (or 9800GT, depends on if my wife wants the GTX275 for WoW) and an 8400GS Folding whenever my PC is on. I know the 8400GS is incredibly crappy, but it's almost no power draw over the existing hardware and I'll have a spare PCI-E slot, so whatever.

Any suggestions on how to make those three GPUs play well together? I haven't Folded in probably over a year, only once on a GPU (single-GPU setup), and before then it was a hodgepodge array of P4 and Athlon XP machines.

Welcome on board, VoraciousGorak

I don't know about how to set your GPU's up properly though, sorry.

Awesome, lots of good old names in here.

I'll start folding once my 6950+SSD gets here (reinstalling Windows when that happens and formatting my old drive.) I'll get my C2D E8400 running before then, my wife's on that computer so much I'm sure it'll finish up some WUs.
