Hi Lads,

This is just for a bit of fun more than anything. But it might come in handy if you think SX is running slowly. You can now see all aspects of the SX server config and stats:

sx01.sysxtreme.com

Processor: Intel Celeron 2.4ghz @ 3.5ghz

Cooling: CM Hyper6 + 2x Tornado's

Memory: Corsair 1gb PC3200

OS: Linux

Roles: MailXtreme, Shoutcast, Teamspeak, Counter Strike [Dust2]

sx02.sysxtreme.com

Processor: 2x Intel Xeon 2.4ghz @ 3.4ghz (6.8ghz total)

Cooling: Heavily modified Intel 2u stock coolers

Memory: Corsair 2gb PC3200

OS: Linux

Roles: SysXtreme Website, Web Server, Unreal 2004 server, Counter Strike [Office] & Match

Just click the links above to get up-to-date stats on both the servers :D

XMS thats legendary mate :)

Big Shout to XMS for all his hard work on :anisx: lads :wavey:

Gotta love the fact that our servers are OC'd :D

Hehe, i was looking for a way to show that we overclock our servers, and now everyone can see them in their overclocked glory :D

Thinking back now, i should have tried for a higher overclock when i got em to the colo, its COLD in there :D

EDIT: Oh and the sx01 link will go live tonight.

Thats pretty useful!

says your new servers only been on 7hours!! its been reset already ;)

Indeed it has. Was restarted last night after i recompiled the kernels on both servers so that they would work better with Counter Strike.

Made a pretty big improvement too - the serverside fps (tickrate) increased by 500%

500%!!! wow :) thats some improvement!

Yeah tell me about it. They were seriously underperforming for what would be expected from their specs.

As usual tho, it was a steam bug, and the only way to get around it was to:

* Open Windows Media Player if you are running a Windows server. (great fix eh)

* Recompile the Linux kernel or use kernel 2.6 if you are running a Linux Server

All great fun (NOT)

AWESOME JIM!!! New kernels are the fuckin pimpage, thank ur guy that did that because he deserves a god damn cookie :)

Hit me up with my login info so I can get IRC reinstalled. Also, we need to get a DOD:S server fired up on the Xeon box. :worship:

i was looking at your server stats earlier and sx01 was like maxed out 99%mem usage so it was under abit of pressure any way come back and have alook at it later and the page times out and i get the zues web server error that says this page cannot be found, I then had a look at sx02 which was mem usage was 68% but had now gone up to 98% !!

I was thinking that maybe because sx01 seemed to be unreachable that sx02 had taken the load?? either that or you guys need more RAM!! ;)

Nah, i was just making them work hard. Today they have been updating Counter Strike (looks like new skins maybe), building/installing php5, and optimising the database.

They should be back to normal now :)

And as stated before linux is a "good" OS. It uses unused RAM for background tasks etc to make the overall system performance 10x better than that of a windows counterpart. But when the time comes for the system to need more memory for another application it releases it to the app (kind of like how F@H works with CPU usage).

Also as stated, when you see the disk swap getting full, then you know it's time for some more RAM :)
