OC3D Review: abit AW9D Max Socket 775 Core2Duo Motherboard

Woah - that is hardcore!

My temps and voltages don't seem to correlate - uguru states cpu is idling at 30 deg C with 1.2 vcore. cpu-z also reads the vcore at 1.2ish. However in the bios I set the vcore at 1.350... bios version 1.2 or 12... I'll check at home

I can't remember what it's called vmech or something? It seems to be tied to the pci-e volts so aren't I at risk of frying my gfx card by upping this from the stardard 1.5?

The beta BIOS 13 for the AW9D (&MAX) worked wonders, finally broke the 400FSB barrier. Kept the vcore to 1.425V, DDR2-800 RAM at 2.25V (1:1), tRFC set to 30, jumped up the M**** (whatever the third voltage setting is called) to 1.6V (which is okay I would think, my 7900GT's are oc'ed to 545/845 from 500/750)...

Lookin' good, if it runs P95 all day, then I'll likely keep it there and see what I can ease up while keeping stability.

Thanks to all of you who put forth the great info! :worship:

Hello,

Does anyone know were I can get a hold of the hacked drivers for enabling SLI on a 975 board. The links posted earlier and in the article no longer work.

Much appreciated.

LMAO, the '16mb' is throwing me off...

Kemp hooked me up with a link before to get SLI working on a 975X mobo, but if that link doesn't work/ exist anymore then try googling. Eventually you will find the drivers. (HINT: 84.56 ...I'm not making this too easy as the individual who put these drivers on the net originally didn't want everyone and their brother passing around modded drivers, for reasons of their own.)

is this the drivers to enble sli the 16mb or the other link if so the other link dont work

I have just spent about 2 hours messing with C++ that i hadn't used before and my head is on the edge of popping, I have gotten to the word 'or' and cannot read any further for fear of catastrophic brain overload. I think by 16mb you mean x16 bandwidth

Quick noob question...

Obviously i am looking to buy a new board and....

You state that the board has 2xPCI-EX16, yet when you go to enable SLI mode you switch to 'dual PCI x 8 slots'.

I thought (maybe wrongly) that SLI needed x16 slots?

Did I mis some trick here?

Great review btw - exactly what i needed to push me a little closer to my new uber rig! :)

they are physcially x16 but when you use the 2nd x16 slot even not in sli it changes electronically ta x8 speed only the the top one is x16 electronically

chipset doesnt suppost x16 x16
