I wonder if we'll get any new members from this by people googling OC3D?

What I don't get is if they can detect that a crack is being used, rather than turning bullets into chickens, why not just close the game?

It renders the game pretty useless to play, and it's funny to play a trick on the people who think they've successfully stolen the game. Also, when the developers put in a funny thing like that instead of just closing it down, it makes the game harder for people to crack because they start playing and think everything is fine and that they've done it

Because then it's easier for game hackers to find the source of the 'bug' and patch it. If the game produces much more subtle bugs that break the game, it is harder to track down.

Sort of like the game dev tycoon thing. The developers uploaded a "cracked" version to torrent sites which would work but after a set period of time your company in game would start loosing loads of money because of piracy. Kinda a way to say to people that piracy costs money and thus jobs because in the game you go bankrupt. If you buy it legit then you will be fine and can have lots of money. Plus it was only like 6 euro so why pirate it.

And its me XD, yeah developers just do silly things just to make pirating a little frustrating. Although they appreciate the interest in their games, they do not like it being free :D
