OC3D Game of the Year Thread

A simple thread, what is your 2017 GAME OF THE YEAR and why.

You can list a single game or several games based on your own categories. The only rule is that the game needs to be released in 2017 or have received a major update/expansion.

My personal game of the year is Total War: Warhammer II, as I have easily spent the most hours playing it and the addition of the game's Mortal Empires campaign has allowed me to battle as Dwarves against Dinosaurs (Awesome).

Please post your favourite game, or games, below. A "worst of 2017 listing is also permissible.

It's tough for me because I have not been overly enamoured with any game this year. South Park : TFBW deserves a mention and I still have loads of it to do but I preferred the simplicity of the first game. Not that it's bad, but it's not perfect.

Wolfenstein was the biggest let down of the year for me. 30 mins of borrox, five mins of fun = repeat. Not a good game at all, Doom was much better.

Here's hoping 2018 brings something I want. Like L4D3, Dead Island 2, etc. Or Borderlands 3, that would be aces.

Guild Wars 2 Path of Fire Expansion is the only thing i bought that was released in 2017, i didnt buy a single other game released that year.

Didn't get the chance to buy or play all the games I wanted. Like AC:Origins, Divinity II, Hellblade, and probably a few more.

So with that only Wolfenstien 2, Warhammer 2, and Shadow of War count for me.

I'd probably be a toss up on Warhammer 2 and Shadow of War. Both were very fun games but Warhammer 2 has more replay-ability so I give it my 2017 award.
They did a lot to improve it and hopefully it gets better with more content. I enjoyed the Lizardmen immensely. So much fun watching Dino's eat elves:p

It's going to have to be PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds for me this year. I've dropped 350+ hours into it already. I dunno how but me and my group of friends just love it, no salt (other than the 1st week of 1.0 that was hella laggy) just fun!

Destiny 2 hooked me for a good month till I ran out of content and then saw the DLC collapse, uninstalled.
Horizon Zero Dawn is also worth a mention, although it didn't hold me for more than a 6 hour session. its a pretty game but the gameplay is just too similar to soo many other games.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice I sunk my teeth into it the other day. I've not seen much but I definitely enjoyed what i did play.
Mass Effect: Andromeda against all controversy its still a great game in its own light.
Forza Motorsport 7, easily the best racing game I've played this year.

Does Elite Dangerous Horizons count? Think that's the only content released in 2017 that I've bought and played. Everything else has been on sale from previous years.

Next year I'll try and pick up Star Wars Battlefront II (dirt cheap for the campaign) and Assassin's Creed Origins. I'll probably get Middle-earth Shadow of War as well but not until I've given Shadow of Mordor the attention it deserves; I kept trying to play it on my HTPC which was way too weak and since I've had my new gaming rig Elite Dangerous has been calling.

The Division and Destiny 2 for me. The Division is now so much better after patch 1.8 and Destiny 2 for me personally has fantastic game play and looks stunning. :)

I don't really have any, I'm not that into "latest and greatest" games with all the issues associated. :P I also rarely play single player games. Just been playing CS:GO, WoW and lately Siege after the network patch. So I guess the latter is my GOTY, even though it was originally released in 2015.

I tried PUBG but I find the ArmA 3 mod much better. I'm also not fan of the idea of slamming together bunch of Unreal marketplace assets and calling it a 30€ game.

I have to agree with Bonkers and Russler mainly because we all game together  but yeah it's The Division, PUBG and Destiny 2. I'd like to throw in Wildlands and GTA Online purely for the constant DLC and updates which just keeps making these titles better to come back to.

I'm old school so its wow for me have really enjoyed the latest expansion, and destiny2 has been interesting.
