91 degrees, thats really massive O_o, on full fan speed... omg nvidia :p

91! If ur lucky, with these beta drivers I've seen 95+, worrying thing imo is the top end is meant to be 105!

I do bare in mind tho, that I'm not going to try the beta drivers on the 285 as there is meant to be a thermal issue with them. The full release drivers counter this, but not for the 4xx series. Experience will show the flaws here, plus further performance, will come.

The noise is the worse aspect for me, even tho the card excels it's single gpu opposition by some 7-14% (I expected 10% myself, thinking of todays market) with the current arse drivers, gamers will not like the cooler. Biggest disappointment for me by far. You spend a boat load of cash on a card and the shroud is a complete joke. The cheapest of Palit 285 cards I have here has an obvious custom approach, and even at full pelt, it cools excellently and is damn quiet.

EDIT: F@H is 13k ppd btw, unsubmitted.

The green is the fastest single card there is no taking away from that, but the heat, and price are big draw backs. Looking about all the othersites have taken the view its a big let down too. Maybe the 485 will fix the issues, I know you hate to hear it rast but sensible money is still with the red team.

Nah, I aint getting drawn into ur obvious game Tom, I know where ur personal blind allegiances lie. It's both unprofessional and an obvious unfitting approach for OC3D. I've accepted this is the case moving forward.

Sensible considerations taken into account, the current card status will only improve, just ast the HD5xxx improved with it's driversets.

it really does sound like a jet :(

go too the 2 minute mark, its painful.

Jets are quieter and have more purpose imo.

Still you are singing the same tune even though every website on the planet is saying the same thing?

They do have the quickest single card Im not saying otherwise, what I am saying is you have to question the cost and the heat. SO dont go questioning my proffesional judgements with your own fanboy goggles. Several of the vendors I deal with (cant name) are VERY dissapointed with the final product and have all ready stated the ATI's still have it.

Stop taking it personally and assuming Im against the green team Rast. Its just facts.

I aint getting drawn in Tom, it doesn't do the site any favors. There is an obvious fanboi, but we are looking in the wrong direction, being honest.

Rasta, OC3D isnt unique in its views. Read the other reviews on other sites. They all say the same thing.

The largest site in the uk was quoted as saying "fermi is a flop"

So you still want to say its just OC3D? wake up man.

Lets give it a rest yeh? We'll get the card, do some benches, make some conclusions. Job done. Move on with our lives.

nVidia dont pay us money

ATI don't pay us money

Neither arse is more attractive to kiss.

dont let me get dragged into this lol!

i for one are hugely disapointed with the final product having to wait near 5 months for it to be released, yes the performance is pritty crazy, but the heat and noise.......arghhh that would drive me insane.

i do have the money saved and ready to buy a fermi card, but why? them two massive draw backs have just drowned all my happiness *emo*.

think im going to have to hold on for the 485 release or the 5890 release.

Mod power ftw btw.

Being honest, that sound recording doesn't do it justice. Irl I think it's worse.

Personally, if I'm spending my own cash, I'd firstly take a look at any thermal corrections that may come via a driver revision, and maybe even a company like ASUS/GIGABYTE/MSI/etc to push a different shroud before dropping a load of cash on it.

There are 5870 cards being released this past week that have outstanding coolers on them - I don't personally see why nVidia overlooked such a simplistic thing.

Thinking back to something like playing Crysis on an 8800GT - she pulsing of the fan was beyond annoying - during an immersive game, u just don't need it.

I know a lot of companies have water blocks ready, Bitspower for one have 470 and 480 covered.

Be interesting to see how an average loop would cope, water is far more mainstream now so maybe this was what NV were hoping for when they sent out PCB samples so early.

MSI will be doing a lightning so that will get a better cooler, just have to sit back and hope its drive based tbh, would make a bank of Fermi's folding somewhat interesting.

maybe a direct fan over gpu would of helped it out ?

just like the gtx 295 co-op, i know it would spit air all over the shop.

But its better away from the card tbh.

hopefully companies decide to get new shrouds and sinks on the cards quickstop, because im more on the red side at the moment.

Ghost - u want a job ? In fairness u've done in 5 minutes what it takes a room of suits to come up with in months.

Being serious tho, they would want to envelope the card to cover components on initial references, and rear exhausting is an absolute must for me.
