rear exhausting is an absolute must for me.

Dito, I find the 'internal' exhaust frustrating, it looks nice but keeps everything else nice and toasty.

I think the quiestest stock cards Ive used were the old 200's the 60 and the 85 were cool and quiet even when folding for weeks on end.

Wow, very nice find. The gtx480 in the link is overclocked to 750mhz core stock!!! Imo heat and price are the main issues with the cards, the gtx480 has a 20% average advantage on minimum frame rates compared to hd5870. Minimum frame rates are the important numbers that determine how ''choppy'' a game appears.

If someone wants a trouble free gaming experience single core gpu is the way forward.

With the EVGA water block card, one of the draw backs (heat) is taken out of the equation, therefore overclocking potential is dramatically increased and will be a very solid platform for a gaming system. If you have watercooling and are able to add a hot card into your loop, the gtx480 will offer great performance but the cost will make it a hard decision.

Yes, it's hot... yes it draws a lot of power, but no it isn't a "massive fail".

I haven't seen anything to get me away from my 260 Core 216 (eVGA SC)... I'm disappointed with both sides really. Oh yea DX11 looks nice and all but I think I'll hold out until tessellation is used regularly. That's really the only DX11 feature that I look forward to in games.

Just to be honest I don't think either team has won this round. I have a friend with an i7 build with the 5770 I think and he only gets maybe 20fps more than my Q6770 with the 260 Core 216. That doesn't really say "next generation" to me.

my 8800gts g92 is still holding ground in every game even 32 slot BC2 games, obviously not maxed out but its definatley more polished then the console counterpart.

i was thinking of crossfiring some 5770's due to the silly low power and tbh massive performance, these DX11 features still too date hav'nt impressed me, they are just extra lag features in my eyes.

if i hold on for another month or 2 we will see some price crunching and i can hopefully pick up some DX11 juice for a half decent and worthy price

Who doesn't go whacking water cooling blocks on modern day GPUs to quieten them down and oc them ...

No fan boy from my side, totally open minded. Any fool buying any new card straight away (day of release or week) is just that. Let the market settle, let the REV 1&2 get out the way till its sorted then laugh at the idiots whacking there gear on ebay to sort out there own costly mistakes.

when its all calmed down then approach the cards and see how things pan out. Wait till water blocks hit the market and see how they play then until that time stay well clear. keep that money that is burning a hole in you pocket there for a few weeks more.

i have no doubt buy xmass there with be a duel version on a single PCB that will rip.

any way hows farmville play on it. lol

i doubt the watercooling market alone is enough to keep nvidias mistake hidden

the fact is.....the % of watercooling enthusiasts in the world is nothing compared to the air cooling market.

Really though guys and gals we all know nvidia will sell all of it's stock.

That fan does sound off putting.

I still haven't got round to putting my waterblock on my 280 and the fan noise is getting rather frustrating.

Nice, post it up once finished. I often do price comparison spreadsheets aswell for various products gives me a great idea of what I think gpus etc ''should'' be worth.

Don't get me wrong, it's nothing too in debth but it does have 2 - 5 prices from 5 different shops.

Ok well as requested here is the rather small price comparison I've done which is a little over a month from release date.

There are cheaper versions about now but these are just comparisons on what was listed on the 28th March.

Seems that nearly everything now costs more, including the 5870's......
