Nvidia officially reveals their RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 graphics cards

4080 12gb. LOOOOOOOOOL.

"How do we charge £950 for a 4070?.... I know ! let's also call it a 4080!"

hahahahahahaha.

Funny thing is it's not even a 4080. It's what would have been a 4070. Spec is totally different.

That said £950 will become £1300 once the AIBS get involved. Dear god, what a s**t show.

Made me crease how they used Cyberpunk for the most part too lmao.

The only thing that interested me was the thing that rescales textures in old games. Really want to see what that can do for Fallout 3.

absolute stupid pricing.

599 euro for the "4080" 12gb and 799 euro for the 16GB 4080 i would accept.
i am that numb by now....

but 1199 euro for a real 4080 ... WTF....

add to that the power draw and i am out.
i thought about replacing the GPU in my main system with a 4080 but .. no way.

gamers should buy consoles and give nvidia the middle finger.

I'd like to see what it could do for Morrowind, If it's a doiwnloadable mod pack or if it gets locked to only 4000 series owners of which I will not be, Not paying £1000 for a xx80 with 12GB of memory.

Yeah anyone with a 2000 or 3000 series should stick with what they have, These prices are ridiculous.

It's a repeat of the 3k series at a higher price, that's not to say your not getting more performance but they are going to charge you extra, vote with your wallets.

BTW AMD will do the same.

Maybe the only saving grace is that miners wont push it up higher this time around, but don't worry the AIB's will.

I was always going to wait a few gens now it's looking by that time i'll be buying the gen behind 2nd hand as these prices are going to keep on the up and up without any doubt.

Still you can always buy an Intel cheap that is already so old it's not even funny, I do hope they stick with it but my feeling is Intel wont for the time that is needed to gain a share.

I'll stick to buying friends pre-owned GPU's so I'll stick with what I have until the 5000 series comes out then buy a friends 4090 for £600, Unless Nvidia in the coming years reverses its immensely greedy ways I will never give them another £.

I don't agree.

For their high end cards? yeah, I can see them upping prices. However for the lower end smaller cards I can actually see them being able to drop prices. Because it's all about charging for materials, and Nvidia needs lots. It all comes down to die size and materials cost. If the GPU uses 200w less it needs much less cooling, which means less price.

Bugger me I am now so glad I bought when I did.

I was lucky last time around with my card, I'm going to enjoy using it for as long as humanly possible, already decided that i'll never part with my card it'll always be a backup or a reminder of an unexpected happy moment dead or alive it's mine for keeps.

I'm not surprised by the prices, but disapointed overall and even thou the whole mod idea seems good it's nvidia you know that will be locked down tight to the 4000 series and onwards. The rest is just gen over gen improvments and i dare say these will chomp down power slightly more than the last.

Nvidia while good in many ways is a walled garden always hated it, they lock out features to generations and it's clear it's by choice mostly as RTX voice I had working fine on my old 970's my first run in with that kind of issue was PhysX being locked off since then I always expect it.

So yes more bells and whistles more performance and incressed price, AMD will just price slightly under which in all honesty makes no meaningful difference to the market as much as i'd like them to stomp all over Nvidia and trash them on price it's not going to happen.

Intel yep would like them to be selling something on mass but they are not maybe in a few gens of laptops they might have a mass world wide release of a desktop card but lets face it for 3070 performance due Q1 now it's Q3 and I see nothing and hear nothing other than the few half hearted ryan shrout videos with an ex nvidia guy basically sand bagging the whole thing anyway, so why would anyone want it they have a long way to go in many ways to ever be relivant on desktop, thou saying that the server card will be something special i feel pontevecio or however it's spelt.

Just over all not surprised, the whole gamer brand is in a mess do they really think we all have such deep pockets to buy so often even the lower end cards prices are making it all a joke for some teen to ask his parents for one they are milking it now, but they are going to hit a brick wall later.

AMD do fair better in the low end than even nvidia do, i can agree that much but we'll see how it pans out.

I'll not lie if i had £7-800 laying around I'd buy a 3090/ti and be done for more years but it's just not worth the hassle and in truth i like my 6800XT, the only issue i have with the card is if hardware acceleration is turned on in chrome it go's freaky discovered by accident a few weeks back once i nailed that issue back too 100% enjoyable again, Idk how it got turned on but then i was like why is that and issue at all.

A lot of my gamery friends over the last 3 years have quit PC gaming due to the ever increasing prices, And these are working men and women.

I'm no stranger to spending a lot on PC gaming but even I have slowed my pace a lot lately as it's gotten to a point that it's just not worth it and I dare say if these prices keep going up it's bye bye PC gaming hello console.

I have well over 1400 steam games many other launchers let alone the emu's so i'll always be gaming on my PC but my upgrades are slowing over the years, the prices if it was slight and inflation based is one thing, it's not thou anyone that got a 1080ti is in a good state I have a friend and he's not budging atm most won't.

I'd say gaming wise i'm good for 2 years then maybe i'll have to start lowering settings on newer games, but been down that road before.

friend got a steam deck i've tested that out works really well, but i feel for me 3rd gen with maybe 20CU's is a better option, but it's a really good device, however I have a retroid pocket and it does all i need atm.

Problem with all this is that enthusiasts like us aren't Nvidia's target demographic any more; they're after the same demographic that buy a new phone every year because they MUST have the latest thing. Nvidia will hand these out to prominent streamers as long as they shill them as much as possible and masses will line up as they are told.

If AMD have any sense, they would keep their prices relatively the same on their RDNA3 cards to undercut everything Nvidia offer.

Yep, It's the age old "keep up with the jones'" syndrome, Doesn't matter if you cannot afford it and will have to eat beans for the next few months, Must have the latest shiny because everyone else has.

Then they are not gamers they are posers.

No one NEEDS to spend a great deal of money to get into PC gaming, nor stay playing it.

If not being able to afford to spend £1600 on a GPU means you give it up? you were never in it for the games in the first place.

I hate to say it, but I told you so.

As for 1099 for the 4070IMEAN8012GB? You can expect that to be 300 euro higher. Nvidia ARE NOT making a FE of that card.
So that means AIB cards only, and they were 300 euro higher than FE last time.

yep i guess these are the lowest 4000 series prices we will see, for a while.

what the F is jensen thinking?!

he will not reduce price for 3000 series cards much i guess.

if i was looking for a new card (i am not) i sure would not buy a NEW 3000 series card.... i rather buy a used one on ebay. i hope they still sit on a ton of 3000 cards in march of next year. :)

now i am even more curious what AMD will do.
i am not expecting AMD to be the savior. but i am also not expecting them to be that nuts.....

As soon as he announced that they were still continuing to sell 30 series alongside these it was obvious that the prices were going to be stupid.

Money. Like he always thinks.

In fairness he already has reduced prices. Quite considerably. You can now get a 3090Ti FE for around a thousand dollars. We are always going to get screwed in Europe, although to be fair that does not include tax in the US.

Ampere's "price drop" was because it was Samsung. Nothing more, and would never have been anything less. Turing's prices were here to stay. The only reason they appeared to drop was because they went to Samsung. But I knew they would go back up to the same as before (only with inflation) when they returned to TSMC. Plus tbh? I bet TSMC proper nailed them hard for cheating on them last time. Every penny that cost is passed onto the buyers.

This is going to be the problem now. Ray Tracing IMO is a bloody curse. Hardly any one wants it, but that is the path Nvidia are determined to take its users on and that means high prices. For something hardly any one actually wants, that doesn't really improve raster performance all that much over not including all of the RT crap.

I don't know about any one else, but I could really see a dramatic drop in quality when he showed DLSS3. Like, a quite noticeable one, even in the brief footage. So realistically how will these perform without it in unhindered 4k? probably nowhere near as good as they are trying to make them look.

Which means one thing - AMD. They are on a COMPLETELY different path to Nvidia. They don't give a crap about RT. And that means they can make waaaaay smaller dies that clock their tits off, and for nearly every one provide super fast gaming.

So yeah, if the 7900XT is indeed a tank? it will be expensive. But that, IMO is short sighted. I don't bloody care one jot about the 7900XT. It is the cards that people actually buy that CAN be far cheaper now. And those are the ones I am excited about because these 40 series cards? IMO are pathetic.

I wouldn't even mind if they held their value at least a little bit. But they just don't, like anything else remotely tech related. You are basically weeing your money down the drain by buying at launch anything tech related.

So yeah, be on the lookout for the 7600 and 7700 cards. They could be a breath of fresh air and a return to sense and normality for gamers.
