Just got the latest custompc magazine and they have a review / preview of this chipset...

"In terms of stock speeds there wasn't much to differentiate the nForce board to the Intel P965-based Asus P5B Deluxe, although it was SLIGHTLY BEHIND"

"The bios automatically ran the RAM at 400mhz (800mhz effective) by default, while it ran at 333mhz (667mhz effective) on the asus board". :yumyum:

"Disappointingly, however, the nforce board wasn't so happy about overclocking. We achieved a stable overclock of FSB 325mhz and cpu stock multiplier while the ram ran at 505mhz (1.01ghz effective)"

So then how long we gonna have to wait for a flawless excellant value board? Or has the P5B deluxe got what we are looking for?

Yeah i heard about the Nforce board a short while ago. It doesn't like high FSB's - which is a big let down for the C2D's tbh.

I'm getting my P5B tomorrow as i've seen it hit 500fsb without mods  :yumyum:

Okey dokey i'll try and squeeze one in.

At the very least i'll do you a forum comparison between the P5B and the Bad Axe.

custompc did one and the p5b is just ahead of the intel

think ill subscribe to custompc - tis a great magazine

XMS, am I right in saying you've switched to the P5B from the P5W?

What's the most you've seen from the P5W?

Personally i havn't run either board yet. I returned the P5W as it just had too much gumph on it for my liking.

On other forums i've seen the P5W hit around 430-450fsb unmodded, and the P5B hit around 500fsb unmodded with an e6600.

This alone made me decide to give the P5B a go.

First let's remember it hit 500MHz on an ES

But yeah P5B's OC more...though volts to get there are high

The OC i saw was on a retail E6600 using air cooling..

I guess I'm just a greedy git. I'm not bothered about nad frying WiFi but I really wanted xfire support. I've all but given up trying to find a cheap partner for my XFX 6800GT, so I like the idea of buy one ATI now and another one cheaper, later.
