Nvidia has created their own Fallout 4 mod - Vault 1080

Wow, Nvidia actually did something nice. Once I'm done Vault 88 and Nuka World I'll take a look at this :)

Prepare your systems for -50 FPS even when looking at a wall ^_^

I don't understand why people are whining so much about it tbh. With the Godrays on low on my Fury X it ran lovely. With everything at ultra (inc Godrays and all those other additions like weapons etc) I got an absolute minimum of 42 FPS in the green radioactive swamps in Far Harbor, which looks far better than the main game.

And this is at 1440p too, so if you dropped it to 1080 then I'm sure a reasonably modest card could run it maxed with acceptable frame rates.

Having said that though I have seen this game at 1080p and it's absolutely awful. I quickly used DSR on my TV to run it at 1440p, where it's at its best IMO. I tried it at 4k but the performance hit was massive. Min FPS of like 24 on a Fury X. It also didn't really look any better.

Not whining just having a joke about the Nvidia gimpworks :)

I see what you did there:p
You can't deny Nvidias software does gimp stuff, obviously a performance hit with all that extra IQ will be expected, but to the point where it even hurts there own cards a noticeable amount is when it's more of an issue. Now with a 1080 or a 1070 it's not even a problem since they are so fast, but everything else is since most people don't have those card's. IMO it's worth it for most situations for a Nvidia user but that's because I'm a graphic ****** and not a frame rate one.:)

I tried playing Assassins Creed Black Flag recently with Physx on at 1080P and even with a GTX 1080 overclocked it tanks FPS to the mid 20's at some point even when nothing Physx'y is happening.

Infact with that specific game I got the same performance on both a 980 Ti and 1080, Just shows the lack of optimisation going on.

I do believe we found the AMD fan :)
My first, and only, ATI card was a 3950.

Their hardware was ****, their drivers were worse ****. I never went back, and I never plan to go back.

Doesn't change the facts that NVIDIA's GameWorks features are terribly optimized and needlessly cripple game performance when they're on, no matter the GPU.

That is quite true, It isn't called Gimpworks™ for no reason ^_^

He's got a point though. Gameworks is needlessly intensive, even if you're running a current gen Nvidia setup.

This game is a bit of a weird choice by Nvidia as the engine it self is already at breaking point so its bound to not run very well. Also considering the games' engine appears to be tied to the refresh rate, meaning that if you're running a nice monitor it can also act a bit off. It also can change your monitor's refresh rate to 59hz too on occasion.
