Nvidia GTX1080 - The Review

Lets not forget here this is the opening act and its twice the performance per what of the card it replaces.

If that trend continues then f-me-sideways

Founders is expensive, Ive expained why. It doesnt really need continued debate.

The non reference 1080s is where the real action is going to be.:)

The EVGA Classified version should be a beast.:)

I'll certainly be replacing the 780 Ti OC SLi rig I did back in 2014 - but as with others, I'm happy to hold off till Q4 when we start seeing the 1080 Ti OC'd crop arrive. Really hope at least one manufacturer does a pre-plumbed option (ala Asus's Poseidon).

I loved the review Tom. I have a water cooled 980 in my Caselabs X2M rig right now. I was astounded that this single card can beat out two of what I have currently and lessen my power draw. Its the perfect card for an iTX rig. Sign me up, getting one asap when I scrounge up the money for it and an EK block.

Power in a single card is what I want, and I know there will be a TI and probably a Titan coming. I don't know if I want to wait though

Its just similar to the 780ti and 980 release. the 980 beats a 780ti. Then the 980ti comes out and steals the show.

I have a 980ti and will wait for the 1080ti or AMD Vega before considering.

My other 780, will thats a different matter. I might get a cheap R9 Nano or something when the 1080 hit.

for all of those who have a 980ti they should not even consider to buy a 1080 imo. 1080 does bring some nice features, software wise but performance wise its a bit meh atm if you ask me.

Though as Tom said in his video, it might get better performance by drivers. So i am lookin forward to what that might bring.

Very tempted to upgrade to the 1080 from my current 2x 780sc but may wait for the Ti versions, gives me more time to save :)

If KFA and get an EXOC i think this will be the one to look out for. Price/performance wise my 970 has been right on the money. minus the coil whine of course.
Tom did you notice any coil whine at all whilst testing?

Only on menu screens when it was at like 1500 FPS

I get coil whine on one of the 950EXOCs but only in benches.

Same. I've had coil whine on every card when loading/exiting any Synthetic bench or when my in game menu FPS was absurdly high.. just normal. Going from a light load to very heavy or vice versa.
