Looks amazing, Interesting that they used 1 x 5090 for the game and 1 x 5090 for the effect, I wonder if that was just due to a last minute addition and optimisation will make ot doable on 1 x 5090 or if it's a sign of how power hungry this effect is.

The demo at GTC is an early version. They already have it running in their labs on a single GPU.

OK, I'm officially impressed. What the actual ckuf? But what I actually want to know is can this be applied to RTX Remix mods, where it's really needed? I don't see thing taking off in AAA space. But modders could run wild with this tech.

According to the Digital Foundry video it is easily applied and could even be modded into Minecraft, As an example, According to the Nvidia devs.

I don't think it's that impressive visually if I'm being honest. The lighting is an upgrade but AI does a poor job(even if Nvidia is an AI leader) with human faces and to me I can't get over how much MORE fake it makes video games characters. I wouldn't also imagine it would make monsters (like Witcher 3 as mentioned) look more obviously fake.

In my opinion AI still has a long way to go and I certainly would still prefer the original artists intentions.

TBH, I think there is some work to be done with character lighting. I think how it affects skin may need to change; at least with younger characters, it makes them look much older. That's part of the reason why Nvidia's Grace Ashcroft example looks so jarring. The Leon example looks much better. The Hogwarts Legacy one is also strange, as the main character is a teenager... That said, Nvidia has other Grace examples that look great.

For the most part, it looks good, but I think it needs refinement. Perhaps markers need to be added to specific characters with a listed age. That way, subsurface scattering, etc., can be calibrated on a per-character basis for main characters. Skin looks different on different people and age groups.

NVIDIA says that DLSS 5 can be tuned, so developers will be able to make their games look how they want. Furthermore, developers can simply choose not ot use it, as can gamers.

It's worth remembering that it's only a demo for unreleased piece of software that's coming out at the end of the year. I'm excited for the possibilities.
