hi, ive just ordered a new pc with a nvidia 8600gts. now, i'm not an extreme gamer but do like to see good graphics. ill only be running this on a 19" widescreen @ 1440*900.

my question is, ive saw reviews online saying the the 128bit memory interface lets the card down slightly. does this interface only have a major effect if you are running on larger screens on bigger resolutions??

if i can get a decent frame rate on 1440*900 ill be happy.

the processor is q6600 with 2gb memory.

many thanks

Yes you will have decent framerate at this resolution. Indeed I run most of the games in 1680x1050 and I don't suffer from drastic framerate slowdown.

The only game I can't play at 1680x1050 with all settings max out is Crysis. But Unreal Tournament 3 totally rocks at 1680x1050 with max settings. So I would not worry too much with your conf.

Poeple will say 128bit lets the card down, but Im not convinced it would do anything to have it 256 bit at all. It just simply doesn't have enough shaders.

And the 512bit 2900xt/pro are proof that it doesn't mean as much as other things :D
