If you are an AOL broadband user and whish to implement a network where a router will share the AOL connection (I.E. router logs in and shares ur connection not Internet connection sharing from another PC) you may wish to know that @ default settings your router will only access the internet okish but services that require password login will not function correctly (MSN, Ebay email etc); this is due to AOL implementin their own version of PPoE; to get these services to work login to your routers settings page (prob 10.0.0.2 or 192.168.0.2 dependant on router) and change the folowing values for ur current conenction settings

Set both MTU (Maximum Transmit Unit) and MRU (Maximum Receive Unit) to 1400

<they should be under the PPP section>

this problem seems to affect all AOL users and there are reports of other ISPs requirin this fix (e.g. Covad)

More than likely not, i think 99% of cable companies don't use PPoE

Yeah I have seen it done before but it's not standard protocol for cable.

PPoE is a total DSL thing :)
