Note 3 or S5

Hey community, after 5 years my Nokia N8 is giving some problems. The Charger input is worn out and my contract is expiring in September and I was wondering which is the best option for me
Candidates:
Samsung Note 3 + Gear (16 GB)
Samsung S5

Keep in mind I want a functional phone for University next year.

(will be fixing the charger input after I get the phone otherwise I'm never getting a upgrade)

I'm from South Africa... NO TouchWIZ and such available at Vodacom plus I love the style and feel of it. It has many tricks and capabilities. My daddy has a S3 and I had a go at the S4 mini and S5

Either Im not understanding you, or you're not understanding me. TouchWiz is the is the front-end user interface Samsung puts over androud, or a skin if you will. Are you saying you can get a Samsung phone with vanilla Android? Its really much more price effective to get something like a Nexus or Moto X since they have vanilla/near vanilla Android and run very smoothly. Also they will probably be much quicker and likelier to recieve updates to Android. I cant really help you with choosing a Samsung phone, because I really dont recommend them and Im sure most people here would agree :D

LOL, Silly me but that's why i'm here.. I don't know much about different interface. Been a Nokia (Symbian) user for 8 years.
Is it like the difference between Anna and Bella?
At vodacom there's only one type of Samsung (don't know what it is)

And isn't all of it Andriods:confused:?

Well basically how Android works is a company (for example Samsung) takes Anroid and puts a new user interface over it to "improve" your experience. It sounds like a great idea, but usually ends up slowing your phone down and making it laggy. Also they chuck a load of useless Samsung bloatware on their phones as well. On the other hand, the Nexus line of phones, for example, are pretty much vanilla/stock android so they tend to be more fluid and responsive. Thats why I dont like Samsung phones.

Understood, e.g custom firmwares?

The only Android available is Hawaii phones, Samsung range and Motorola (if that's android) i think but i'll browser around, maybe I like Samsung because that's the only android i've been exposed to.

Motorolla make the Moto X which is very close to stock Android and is what I'd get if I had to choose.

okay thanx for your opinion and its highly appreciated been looking at s3 and note for months so i'll have to watch reviews and compression of the moto x before choosing

and thank you for the little lesson on interface never knew of that aspect

No problem, it can be pretty confusing if you are just getting into it all. :D

Ive never seen a review on it, but it runs 4.2.2 and the screen is bent. Thats meant to be a good thing, but to me just seems annoying :P

Lol no review = not worth (IMO)

If it was good enough it should have been reviewed.
Note 3 + Gear so far just to talk into my Smart watch straight to memo, will be recording lecturers to memos in case I miss out key points in class

I really never look at reviews though. Theres probably a couple out there. Serious tech channels like this one dont do phone reviews, so I never really see them. I dont know much about the whole smart watch thing, so youll have to look into that.

It has a lot of favorable things IMO if you living the busy life on university.
e.g voice command through the watch is much better than taking out the phone and doing it.

So i can call, text, get notifications, control the music player, through the watch.
