I have windows XP SPk 3. i have norton 360, which i dont like because it is too resource hoggish but i also have MS security essentials on my PC. Can i uninstall MS security essentials and keep Norton 360 without having any issues or does MS security essentials have to be on my PC ?

Also is there any way to keep Norton 360 from doing shit in background??? My windows task manager also shows that my mem usage is batshit crazy just writing this

Its not advised to use two anti-viruses, I would suggest you remove both and use Avast but as for your question, yes you can uninstall MSE and keep Norton 360, though you will see a minimal performance increase as Norton 360 is most likely causing the high cpu/mem usage.

Dump Norton.

I used to swear by it but..............now it's a real resource hog.

There are several good FREE antivirus prog's on the go................try them ti'l you find a one you like !

personally i would ditch norton and go with MSE as it uses the same engine as the enterprise version (forefront) just without the fully automatic updates, it is a very good lightweight product which ive never had any problems with and i use it within a school with 500 computers all running it

Yup as others have mentioned, norton 360 is a big resource hog, its better if you uninstall it. Been using MSE for a good few years now, runs nicely in the background without affecting pc performance
