Normal Temp

i have a server in my attict for developing purposes (and to use as a download server :P). its a P3 800mhz. Just wondering what the normal temp the cpu should be running at and at what temp (min and max) i should start worrying about. the lowest its been so far is about 8 degree's. (flipping winter) havent got the summer yet, so unsure as to what sort of temp it will be then.

You need not worry about the min temperature. Processors work at ridiculously low temperatures as long as you dont get any condensation.

The maximum temperature i'd say was acceptable for any processor is about 55oc, however most processors can go up to 80oc+ without causing any damage.

good to hear it, it doesnt have a fan on the heatsink, so nearer the summer i shall have to keep and eye on it. worse case, is i have to buy a new heatsink.

thanks for your help.

PIIIs are very efficient iirc. I've got a PIII650 i use in a quiet music pc which is passively cooled and is quite happy that way even in the heat of summer (it does have a reasonably large heatsink on it mind you). If you've got any sort of fan blowing on it i doubt you need to worry about temperatures.
