Noob question

Right i have my DDC and it came with no sort of instructions, it has two wires coming out of it, a blue 3 pin head and a standard molex, what do i do with the 3 pin? is it alternate power or does it need plugging in?

Another noob question, which way should i mount my EK Supreme for the best temps on my Q6600, like standard horizontally (so EK lettering on the block reads normally) or vertically if you get what i mean? (rotated 90 degrees)

Thanks

Pat

The 3 pin is a speed sensor

775 mounts aint square. You should only be able to mount it one way.

okay thanks, so the 3-pin isnt needed to be plugged in? I am not really bothered about the noise. Thanks for your help guys :)

Careful Pat …that pump is the heart of your system and if it stops or slows you want to know……..

Take the three pin with the blue wire and plug it into your CPU fan socket …then go into your bios and disable fan speed control…..and set the alarm for 100 revs …fit the molex to a molex….

Now if your pump speed drops below 100 revs the alarm will tell you and if it stops you should shut down….

….

The 3 pin wire is ONLY an RPM monitoring wire, the same as a yellow wire on a fan.

It cannot control the speed of the pump, it is purely there to allow you to set fail safe proceedures (shut down in case of failure) and also to trick your board into thinking a CPU fan is connected in case it will only boot with one connected.

I found that connecting both was quieter then just using the molex.

Not possible.. the 3 pin can't control speed!

4 pin molex - Power

3 pin molex - RPM Monitor (NO POWER OR SPEED CONTROL)
