Noctua releases their product roadmap for 2023/2024

I really respect Noctua for releasing their roadmaps like this. They admit when things don't go to plan and just get on with it.

Agreed! If the product isn't right or ready then don't release it. It can be tight on the purse strings for a while and not every company can afford to do this, but if you can, it is ultimately more positive long term if a company consistently releases polished products.

Noctua REALLY needs to give up on those awful standard colors of theirs.

Yikes that's hideous.

Why though? It hasn't stopped Noctua being one of if not the leader in fan and heatsink design. They make massive amounts of money selling their 'awful' coloured fans. So do they REALLY need to give up on them? The evidence tells otherwise, that they're doing perfectly fine. I have no evidence for this, but I have a theory that one of the reasons Noctua are so successful is that they use brown and tan colours. Those colours are now intrinsically linked to premium quality. I think it's clever marketing.

The answer as to why they still use brown in 5 points

Marketing
Focus on performance not aesthetics
The flexibility of small companies
Status
Tradition

And the actual response from Noctua when asked was in summary "we wanted to be unique and stand out"

It's cause the pigment is cheap as no one wants it :P

they used it for years and to be fair do make others i see no issue but i'd not buy it myself, not just due to colour but also price.
