Noctua introduces NH-U12S and NH-U14S single tower CPU coolers

I hope Tiny Tom reviews these new single tower CPU coolers from Noctua.

While I have the NH-D14 on my old rig, I might consider a Noctua single tower on my new rig, to accommodate taller ram, and keep the case internals looking nicer. Although I don't expect to push the system that much, it all depends on the performance figures. That's where Tiny's reviews come in..

it's still beyond me why Noctua won't adopt a less "ugly" colour scheme. Even if it's just black. I'm all for brand identity and that but it just doesn't make sense to me. I honestly think given their great reputation and quality products they would sell just as many (probably more) if they offered some other colour ways

I recently asked myself that very question: How many fans do they not sell due to their colors as opposed to how many they sell additionally for that exact reason? I suppose we'll never know...

I once read an interview with a guy from Noctua who said that brand recognition was the point of that though and that they were never going to change it. You see something that looks like skin with shit stains inside a PC it's gonna be a Noctua

Although I have to admit I don't actually hate the colors, I just think they fit with very little else.

lol
even though it isn't recommended i guess you could paint them, i would really like a rig with some black and blue noctuas, but they are so expensive and i have no experience with painting anything but walls :(

It's funny, I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. If someone could recommend the correct paint, or do a tutorial, I'd love to paint the top part of the NH-D14 plastic which shows through the window of the case (not the actual fans or moving parts). Orange to match my new board or white to match the case I might buy.. hmm

As said there is the option of dyeing the fans but surely that will affect the performance even if it is minimal.

I think Noctua have one of the most identifiable products on the market with the majority of our community being able to spot one a mile off which is great, but how many people are actually buying Noctuas coz of the colour and not because they're great fans, I bet very few!

Instead of changing they should just add to their range..

Yeah this is what i was thinking. You could buy the fans in "Classic Noctua" colour way for those purists and then black etc. as an option. I've been to Austria and I know that they are capable of manufacturing plastic that isn't brown or beige
