I wonder will this shape future cards from other companies in any way. With the rumours of RDNA3 and Lovelace being incredibly power hungry, radical design changes for GPU coolers might be worth it.

No. They just need to use better quality thermal paste and better thermal pads. You can drop 40 C or more on memory just by putting proper thermal pads. RTX 3xxx cards could have been 2 slot with better thermals instead of overheating bricks.
