There is no Driver Fix coming for the GTX 970's Memory issue, and now AMD are offering reduced pricing for R9 290 series GPUs.

Uch amd, did you really have to do that?

Yes they did(well not the fixer video but the price drop was totally needed). Capitalism never forgives, and AMD isn't in a position that would allow some profit to be lost.

Besides if nvidia released a driver to fix a hardware issue that would be a crime...

Yeah i meant the video and that picture, price drop is awesome.

From what I've heard the 970's fps doesn't decrease that much because of the memory bandwidth issue, bu it is noticeable in the form of bad frame timings and micro stuttering.

Good thing i don't have the budget for a x70 model but this might result in a interesting cheap 970 deal in the future tho.
Sad thing AMD has to jump on it like this to make some quick cash (that they seem to need really bad?) tho.
If they really think they are that great now let them fix their thermal / noise problem first i'd say, since they aint that good on that part yet.

Does anyone think that the title is a bit misleading, I was expecting an uninformed rant over how Nvidia isn't changing the drivers to fix this "problem" instead of an article that is about as detailed as the others I have seen.

We'll see what AMD plans with their "arctic islands" card, sounds like they will finally focus on efficiency over feeding as much power as possible into bad chips

Well if it was the other way around if AMD had something like this, Nvidia would be crapping all over AMD, People would be calling for heads to roll at AMD if this was AMD

Well you can't blame AMD for taking advantage of the situation but the question is what is stopping Nvidia from doing the exact same thing with the high end cards?

Oh you mean the thermal performance of the reference 290 cards or do you mean all the 290/290x cards in general? Because some 290x get better temperatures then most nvidia cards ;)

If AMD did this it would go exactly the same way, complete with Nvidia trying to make a quick buck.

I was talking about the reference cards yeah, buddy of mine stuck one in a steambox, turned it in a actual "steam" box with the fan blowing like crazy :/

If it would be the other way around Nvidia would have done the same kinda thing yeah but its just that i don't like big company's playing games like this.
In the end it's all about another way to make money and survive i guess.
