sorry guys if this post is in wrong section.

but im seeking for some sort of help from anyone.

OK! well its like this yesterday i cleaned out my pc from inside

and when i finished. everything worked fine. :)

but no display. :(

Now im thinking what went wrong so i turn off then on again.

after hole day of messing around and searching.. i read somewhere that the 3 beeps im getting on start up ment some sort of code where my bios is telling me that theres a fault somewhere .. so i read up those codes and it turns out to be my graphics card is faulty well..thats where the code is indercating. anyway so i bought a new graphic card,

after installing the new one im still getting the same damn beeps!

1 long beep and 2 short ones. bios is Phoenix.

so what went wrong? any ideas cuz i done my google searchs and messing around and spending my money on a new graphic card. so i done what i could.

feedback would be nice. thank you.

Have you tried clearing the C-mos mate? If not, google on your board how to do it, or pop the battery out for 15 minutes...

Should sort it... If not, try booting with one stick of Ram....

just curious does my motherboard support the new graphic card i bought?

graphic card: hd 4870

motherboard: Supermicro X7DWA-N Dual XEON 771 1600MHz

Remember its never to late to learn :)

niceone dude i was thinking what c-mos is. i will try that now thanks

Yeah, dont see why not mate, board seems to have a X16 PCI-E slot...

According to your mobo manual the Cmos jumper is in the bottom right hand corner as you look @ the board... Just move it across to pins 2+3 and give it a minute, then move back and see if it boots... :)

na dude i tried all that you said.

still getting those beeps and no display.

cmos jumper was by where my graphic card goes.

i dont get it according to my mobo manual

3 beep code refers to video configuration error,

and i have install a brand new graphics card.

anymore ideas?

It might be the Pci-e slot which has been damaged. Have you tried putting the graphics card in another slot?

Remember, the motherboard is only so smart. It can only detect that it is not receiving the right data from the graphics. If a faulty Pci-e slot is the reason, and the card is fine, it will still just report a graphics error.

the problem is... it wont fit on the other slot bcoz the southbridge get in the way. so its smart.:))

this is newtogaming just chanced my nick.

tried that already and system went really mad

wouldnt stop beeping.

i think im going to give up and let an professional tech have a look at it.

cheers everyone for your support.

I had this issue on my gigabyte bord. God knows what i did but after a lot of fiddling with the cmos bat and ,y graphics card it started working again.

Yeah, dont give up mate...

Try some different ram, in Diff slots, do a long cmos clear (remove the battery for a while)

Make sure you have plugged in the power supply to the 4870!!! needs 1 or 2 PCI-E power connectors...

Make sure you have cleared the CMOS, you might have done the wrong jumper, the manual says it is bottom right corner! lol.

Psu

Also make sure that your PSU is up to the job, I have had a similar issue to you and it was due to a fault on the PSU!!

couldnt take it anymore guys.

its been 3 days me messing around and calling sick at work.

sleepless nights, just couldnt take... so i took it to the repair shop anyway.

and would you believe it... they rang me back in 3hrs, left me voicemail,

when i was dead sleep lol. anyway they fixed the problem.

now have to wait until Tmrw to collect my pc, and dying to find out

what the hell went wrong.

just been ripped off!!

mate only if you said that before me giving it to the repair guy.

you would of saved me from getting ripped off!.

i just paid the tech guy £65.

my old graphics card had only one pci-e power connector

and the new graphics card has two. and i plugged in only one.

that is why i was having those beeps and no display. (i know...i know you dont have to tell me)

just incase this happens to anyone makesure you check your power connectors before doing anything else.

You're joking mate!!

Gutted to hear that! Next time post on here and chill for a day or so and someone will help solve ur probs...

The guy sounds like a douche for charging you £65, especially if that was all it was mate, he hasnt done you any favours at all...

I dabble in PC repair etc and wouldnt dream of charging someone for that...

Anyway, U live and learn ey! :)

Costly Lesson

Sorry to hear about that fella, but as was said before if u had waited the problem woulda been solved pretty quick.

Its annoying that these people charge that kinda money for something that most of us here had we been able to look at your PC woulda solved in about 3 minutes, I understand people have to make a living but it is a complete rip off to charge £65 for what amounted to about 5 minutes work where no hard ware needed replacing. If you had said £20 then I woulda thought that was a fair price to charge.

As said before next time post here m8e and we will do our best to help you out at no charge and there is hell of a lot of experience in this forum. Just remember thou we do not have the ability to see your problem so we must ask questions to try and find the answer, which takes time but no cost :)

A £65 lesson learnt but hopefully it will save you a lot more money in the future :)
