Nintendo's upgraded Switch will reportedly feature an improved CPU, memory and screen

Not going to lie, DLSS on a Switch does seem like the right way to go as it will help make it run and look better without needing all the horsepower to do so.

If this new Switch does come, I'm pouncing on it for launch. I just wonder whether they'll update older games to run with DLSS; Breath of The Wild and Xenoblade 2 would look incredible

DLSS is only really meant for docked play on a large 4K screen, which I suppose is very much in the minority usage amongst Switch owners.

..The fact that in mobile mode, its still coming with only a 720p screen will mean the boosted hardware should be capable of quite a lot more than what it currently is.

DLSS could certainly help the Switch in handheld mode too you'd think, as it allows fancier settings and/or lower battery use and/or pegged 60FPS, 480p DLSS to 720p would probably look about as good as native but with significantly lower load (Less than half the number of pixels of 720p).

Well if the device is DLSS capable, developers can dictate how to use the tech for their use case. Maybe more aggressive presets could be enabled on demand as a battery life extender.

Agreed with this. Some games could easily go this route while others can make themselves look better without having any impact on battery life. Xenoblade 2 for example can have resolution drops below 480p in certain parts in handheld mode; DLSS could make it play at 720p. Docked, it could easily run at native 1080p.

DLSS can do a lot of good for the Switch. At least all they'll need to do is create a DLSS profile for handheld, docked 1080p, and docked 4K

It would be interesting to see DLSS impact on battery life. It remains to be seen how good DLSS can upscale low resolutions like 720p.

Sounds like a big upgrade.

I'm guessing that it won't be used in handheld mode, or it will be used for "SuperSampling" at 720p. Hard to know.
